New Custom CAI Pics !!

Okay, here's the scoop.

Custom CAI built and installed by member JMB Justin. This CAI is outstanding quality. The airbox is metal but appears to be coated and trimmed out nicely. The CAI also has an evaporator cylinder that is vented with a K&N vent and a petcock at the bottom to drain condensation. The intake tube and evaporator canister are powdercoated (I chose silver but he can do other colors).

I don't have access to a dyno but it sounds awesome and seat of the pants says good mod. Just by it's design it HAS to flow better than stock. Even if there is minimal gain it is worth it just for the bling factor. The pics don't do it justice.

Yes, we removed the passenger side plastic piece.

That is a K&N vent filter that is mounted on top of an evaporator canister. Justin runs the evaporator hose off the valve covers to the canister. The canister is powder coated your choice of color and has a viewing window and a drain petcock so you know if it needs to be drained.

It's the best thought out CAI I have ever seen and looks awesome.:rock:

I don't want to post $$ because I don't know if he's a vendor on the site and I don't want to get him in trouble.

I also don't know if he will ship them out as a kit?:dontknow: I went to his house/shop and he did the install and everything for me.

I will say that I paid less than some have paid for a K&N (and got a lot more for the $$).

It looks great. What about water getting into the filter since you removed the stock black plastic shield in the grill?

I guess when you run at the track again, you'll know how well it works. If the sound is anything like the k and N one, its very cool. Sounds like Darth Vader to me!

I had to drive it home in the rain. Kind of irked me because I don't usually get it out even if it's cloudy. Anyhow I checked the filter when I got home and it was dry. I think the filter sits up enough to stay dry but low enough to pull in fresh air.

To say this thing "growls" now would be a huge understatement. It freakin ROARS now. LOL. :rock: I should have done this mod a long time ago.

You'd have to bury the nose of the truck in the water for it to be an issue, then you'd have much bigger problems anyway. Hard rain or spray from another vehicle wouldn't matter. The filter would shed the majority of the water, and what got in would just cool the intake charge a tad. I ran my K&N with the grill cover removed, and it even the worst Seattle rain didn't matter.

Cool, I didnt know that. With the plastic shroud gone, does the engine run any cooler?

I didn't notice if it ran any cooler. I only took the truck out a couple of times. The weather here is pretty cool now so it's running real cool right now anyway. I have the stage II flash and low temp thermo, so I always run cool in the winter, spring and fall. :dontknow:
