New G-Tech times

Missed the Memorial Day drag races last week, so I took my SRT-10 to do some G-tech runs this morning. Weather was 75 degrees and humid, not so good temps, but not so bad either.

Truck is bone stock, 3/4 tank gas, full street trim with even around 70lbs of stuff in the back seat.

Best run was:
60' 2.202
0-60mph 5.300
330' 5.908
1/8mile [email protected]
1000' 11.588
1/4mile [email protected]

I've only launched my truck a few times and still have to get used to it. I know that the 2.2 60' is horrid and need to practice and get it down. So maybe a 1.9 60' would put me around 13.5? Well I got some work to do but the truck difinitly has more in it, gosh I love this truck.

Yeah it's very accurate, you just need to find a very flat road. Only thing about it is with Dodge vehicles it's hard to calibrate your rpm's. It will tell you to set your redline, then hold it at exactly 4k rpm's then hit ok, which is easy. Then it says to hold it at 2k rpm's which is a little trickier, but still not hard to do. Then when all that is set you have to rev it up a bit and hold it without the rpm needle moving while simultanously scrolling through 32 different rpm settings to find which one is most accurate to what ever rpm's your currently holding it at, which is pretty damn hard and I haven't been able to do that part. You could just skip the last part and the G-Tech will still be accurate and tell you your 60', 0-60, 330', 1/8mile, 1000', 1/4mile with traps. But without doing the last part it wont tell you your HP&Tourque and show you all those times corresponding to your powerband. You can also set how much your truck weighs and do dyno pull on the street, but you have to do that last part. All in all it's accurate to 1/100th of a second.
 
I had one, wouldn't work for shit in my truck. One run woult say 400 Ft/lbs of torque and the next would say 1000??

The people at G-Tech said it was because of the rpm pick-up on our trucks. Which rang true because it always was way off. There were some other peeps with the same prob;lem!!

Maybe the 05's and up are different??:dontknow:
 
I have one of the earlier ones (the new ones can datalog and cool stuff like that) that I used last year at a drag race event at an airstrip. I thought it was off because the times seemed slow but when I went to bandimere a few weeks later turns out it did pretty well.

I'll be taking the g-tech and my vid camera to the Norton car show/drag race at the airstrip event July 14. The concrete runway is rather flat and I have access to the density alt info from the sensors at the strip (which are less then 100 yards from the runway).

Of course I'll provide my results and video after the event :)

How does the G-Tech connect to our trucks. Does it have to be hard wired in or plug into the diagnostic port.

How does it get all that info. from the cig. lighter??? The dash hawk gets it's info. directly from the diagnostic port. The dash hawk is $100.00 higher.

the gtech said i made 471 rwhp ... i kinda assume its a give or take twenty thing ? i have stage 2 flash , magnaflow , thermostat and cai k+n settup . i believe it , do you guys ?

the reason for the unusual readings is because you probably didn't follow the directions. You must enter all the test criteria(roll,weight,frontal area,etc) to perform the test properly. I used mine twice at two tracks one 1/8th mile, and the other 1/4 mile and times where pretty darn close,within one tenth of a second. As far as hp goes it was within 5 hp of what my truck dynoed and within 8 of the torque. Not bad for less than a hundred bucks I think.

I think the are worth it if....

1. You buy it used off of EBay
2. Use it a few times.
3. Sell it when done with #2 on EBay.
 
I paid 79.95 + shipping for mine new on ebay. It retails for 179.95. I spend more on dinner on any given night out.

Same deal here..........got it to work but once the sun set and had to turn on my lights at the track, the rpms all went to hell and it wouldnt work for shit. Called the company and the tech guy said our dodge trucks were shit for electronics!!! Yeah thats great customer service, bash my $50k truck not your POS $200 device.......I made them take it back.......took several months, several phone calls to actually get the refund on my credit card. They dont refund shipping which was over $30 to Maui...........true shipping cost were less than $10. F#ck that company is my opinion!!
