Hello all. I’ve been lurking around here for a few weeks now and thought I should take time to introduce myself.
I’m a 51 year old gearhead that has been modifying and customizing everything I own since a very early age. My dad (a mechanic) would spend several hours putting a new bike together only to see it the next day disassembled and being “fixed up†by me.
I still have my first Harley that I bought in 1975 that I designed and fabricated an intake and drive system to install a supercharger on. I recently completed an 8 year project involving chopping, channeling and Hemifying a 34 Ford coupe. During that time I was working a 14/14 schedule offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and had plenty of time to work out in my shop in California.
I now find myself doing design work in Houston on a 4/3 schedule. Since my commute doesn’t afford me a lot of shop time back in Ca. I decided no new projects for a while.
In my temporary relocation to Houston (about 18 months) I found the need to acquire a new vehicle. That’s where you guys come in.
I bought a new black 05 SRT-10 quad cab dealer demo to use while staying here in a small apartment. Even though I’m still living in a hotel as I write this there is an X-metal lowering kit and Magnaflow cat back in the mail right now.
I can’t help it! I gotta fix this thing up!
My first question is for anyone that has a stock QC or a QC with Boomers lowering kit and stock wheels. What are the measurements from top of fender well opening to the ground? Mine appears to have a week spring or something. My measurements are as follows:
Left front 34.5 Right front 35
Left rear 37.5 Right rear 38

Thanks for all the good info and I look forward to future exchanges.
    Lillard

Welcome to the board, that Fink Rod is pretty damn cool. Where in Cali are you at? I am in the Inland Empire. My truck sits at 35 and 37.5.

But... I also run 44lbs of air in my tires. (FL roads are MURDER on tires).

Thanks guys. That's what I call service! As I suspected it lookes like I've got a weak LF sping. Now if I can just get a report from one of the lowered QCs I'll know where I'm headed.
Thanks OCBob. The Fink Rod gets damn near the same milage as my truck and it's a helluvalot lighter!
    I'm from Bakersfield.

WoW! Love the pix of the dragstrip. That's where I got married last Oct. I'm one of the lucky guys that has a sweetie that loves cars too. She has a 97 Z/28 now and is getting a new Vette in June. When I bring the truck home we'll have over 1800 horses in our garage.
How much horsepower can you have and still go to Heaven?

    Welcome Lillard!

Looks like you're going to fit right in here.

I'm glad these other guys got you the measurements you need as my truck is covered, it's dark outside, and I think it's raining too.:(

Which pretty much means I'm just going to have to sit here and have another beer.:D
