New Gears!!!

Well, after having the boxes from unitrax laying around for about 4 months I finally got my 4.88's put in yesterday.:rock: I really like them so far going to get them broke in got before I really try them out I am mostly surprised that it only cost me $200 to get it all put in... I have my 4.10 carrier and ring and pinion gears if anybody is interested. This stuff has 2000 miles on it...

$200 for the install is CHEAP!!!:rock: IIRC, it cost me closer to $400 when I did 4.56's in my '04.

Have fun with them! Ya know, trying to get some traction! :burnout:

Excellent Kyle. Break them in properly. $200 is very cheap, I paid over $500 I think........I cant remember now, but the install has been perfect with no problems..................cept that I have horrible traction now!!! LOL With your mods...........first and second gear at WOT are gonna be burning rubber!!!!

Maybe next month. Something I am not sure about though. Its gonna be close to redline in fourth gear. I will say that the truck pulls like a sumbitch in fourth gear even at 80 mph!!! Its quite a cool feeling.

The speedo runs off of wheel speed so you don't have to change it unless you change tire size...

I believe with stock tires it is 112 MPH in 4th at 6000 RPM!

I think Silver did some calculations awhile back, might try a search!

It all depends on what your goal is? If you are just looking to jump hard every now and then the 4:88's will be great.

If you are stock with a tune I still think this is your best bet for the track also, i don't see a stock truck going over 112 in the quarter.

If you are blown or are spraying you definitely want 4:56's, if your looking for just crazy top end speed 4:10's!!!

hey Mas i gotta drive your truck.. I'm curious about those 4.88s.. i do alot driving so I wanna see what they do to my rpm and the over all feel of the truck

I like them so far.. The truck feels lighter than it did with 4.10's For my driving style I went with them over the 4.56's Also I don't do alot of racing but when I do it is 1/8 mile so the 4.88's seemed like the best choice for that also.

05's come stock with 4.56's If you can get it to hook with stock tires 4.88's would be best in the 1/8 IMO If you were to go with the eagle wheels and the MH drag radials it might be a tad to low geared but it should hook good:burnout:
