Just read somewhere that it takes around 11 quarts, what does it say in the owners manual? My truck didn't have one in it so I had to order it, and it never came in yet. I put exactly 10 quarts in, that's including the half quart or so to fill up the oil filter. Looks like it right on the max line but damn these dip sticks are hard to read with such clean oil :p. How much did you guys use?

Oh and I didn't know about the brake coolers, they look pretty cool under there. Damn I love this truck

Wifey's 04 takes 8.9 quarts - stop and remove some of the oil - you will blow the rear seal if you drive ityou have overfilled it!!!

There was a misprint in the manual due to our trucks being originally built on a diesel chassis. Use 8.5 quarts, check dipstick, top off.

Yup over filled it. Didn't drive it but had it running/idling for a while yesterday.

So how much dip stick checks you think it would take to drain out 1.5 quarts? lol joking.
You can go to a Pep Boys or any auto store and pick up a pump that hooks onto your drill motor. You can put a tube into your oil tube (dipstick hole) and suck it out with a drill motor.

Make sure to use a torque wrench on the drain plug or you may end up with a broken oil pan (it is aluminum and a couple have been broken from overtightening). Use a new gasket also. You may want to order a fumoto oil drain valve that replaces the plug - most of the local vendors on the site have them for sale. You don't have to use a wrench and you can control the amount of oil you let out and reduces the mess.

WELCOME,BOUGHT MINE IN N.C.
DROVE IT 800 MILES TO GET HOME.
RAIN MOST OF THE WAY.INTERSTATE DRIVING.
WENT 3K BEFORE MY FIRST OIL CHANGE.TRUCK WORKS GREAT.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN UNNEEDED OIL CHANGE.
THAT IS, AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT AT THE RACE TRACK!!

What's the torque specs on the oil drain plug? I'm sure I didn't overtighten it, but I am a dumb brute who's prone to stripping bolts.

 M1 0W 40? WTF?? All this time I've been using M1 10W 30... Are the '04s and '05s different in the oil weight usage?:dontknow: Oh, Aloha Viperpowa.. Welcome home bro.
