I want to go through and try to stop this annoying belt squeel. Now it went away last week so I popped the hood to check and it's because my belt is frayed on the inisde a tiny bit so obviously something is out of whack. I want to replace my idler just so I can scratch that off the list plus we all know those are usually the culprit and since I'll have the belt off I'll go ahead and change the tensioner and check them all.

Now are pulleys from the local auto part stores fine for the job? I think they're made by Dorman or Dayco, they all look exactly the same.

they will work fine:rock:

went with the Dayco ones with a new belt from RockAuto:rock::rock:

Awesome sauce! Didn't want this to turn into the brake pad problem I had before lol.... Gonna pick them up along with a new Gates belt!

So is thisa squeal or more like a chirp? 'Cause my belt is fraying on the front side a little and it chirps, but quits when it gets warm.

either one is usually a sign for belt & pulleys

Had the same issue, replaced everything. was not belt or pulley.

It was squeal but every now and then it'll chirp when it's cold. My fraying is on the inside, I can see where the belt is slighty nicking it every now and then.

also our trucks tend to do this when it rains water tends to come in the hood scoop and drip onto the belt
