Had to get rid of the rb4 I went with the jensen 9512. Install was actually less then 1hr, my audio guy took care of me with all the right connections. I decided to do it myself no problem at all. Scarey things is how fast you can actually get the radio without cutting or damaging anythig:dontknow:
Heres the pics camera sucks.

I am waiting for that part was not in stock. So you are correct, this will work with the steering wheel controls. I like the touch screen:marchmellow: My forging comes after christmas:burnout: :p

Ohhhh Noooooooo. Did you really buy a Jensen??? They have terrible problems with the mechanisms that open and close the screen. They have bad issues with the player mechanism as well. I am not trying to be negative, but I replaced those units (swapped them out for customers) multiple times a week for almost 5 years. Don't get me wrong for the price they seem like a bargain. Ever wonder why they are so inexpensive??? They just don't last at all. I really hope you can take it back. Please please, from a friend that has worked in the audio industry for years, get something else. Anything else. Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, Panasonic, Clarion, or some Sony's have proven track records of working for years. This unit will break (I hope it doesn't) before it should. I have had some of these units be broken after a week of use.

I am serious about this. I am not one fo those people that normally say things like this but Jensen in-dash flip out screens are awful. Their overhead monitors, their headrest monitors are all great. It is something about these in dash flip out mechanisms on their units that really stink.

Please take this has advice and or help. I am not trying to damper your purchase "high" I just don't want you stuck woth a piece of crap. I may not know much, but audio I do know. I am sure you can find people who love these units, and everyone can get one that works sometimes. I have installed a couple of hundred of these in my shop, as has other shops that work in conjunction with me, and they all feel the same about these units.

Another note about Jensen screens: They have very little power and alot of distortion. They may advertise large power ratings, but actual RMS (real world power) is very small normally between 10 to 15 watts a channel. They also have a mono plug subwoofer rca. That means a 2 channel doesn't run properly on this unit. If you do hook a mono amp to it, still use a splitter.

Another note: Dual and Jensen are made by the Audiovox brand. For some reason they don't seem to be made well. I love Audiovox products, but not these to flip out screen lines. They really are bad. Very bad.

To be totally honest, they are good for what they were designed for. "To put a screen in the car for cheap" They do not however last. I do however know how to bypass the "cant watch video while you drive" thing. If you do keep it, (I really hope you don't) I will be glad to help you bypass it if needed. Oh and if you need a remote or any part for it, I have a shit load of them (from all the units we sent back)

Again Congratulations on the new mod, but please get something else. Anything else. Sorry to give you news like this.

I for one,Am glad you posted this. You may have saved me some headaches,Thanks.

Well I am just trying to help with what I know. As to your PM, I really don't have much experience with the higher end side of the JVC's. The lower end units have a shared problem with jensen's the cd player mechanism gives out prematurely.

Anyway like I said, just an installer trying to help out friends.

Thanks again bro.

Well thanks for the info. If i do have any problems I can take it back. Just Like all things I buy I usually research for a few months if possible before I buy. I thank you for the advice and out of 12 installers your only the 3rd peson to say that. The rest where very positive and these are guys that have been doing audio for about 25 years, they said jensen had a problem with 9312 but the bugs are out of the 9512 and already bypassed.

And yes to those about the dvd player actually alot better picture than the higher ends imo. And no ploblems with the sound or distortion these guys hooked me up with what works the best with our trucks and systems. WHich by the way infiniti may be a good brand but the systems they put in our trucks are for shit just like the pistons. And in real world apps just like the horse power on our trucks the 525 watts is bs. more like 300 real world amps.

I am not surprised by your response. I find it hard to believe that you did months of research and concluded that the 9512 was the best model to go with. Oh well I tried to help.

Enjoy your new dvd system. If you have any issues I will be glad to help. I may not have 25 years of experience (wow really???) but I do have quite a bit of experience in the field. I have said it once and I will say it again....Everyone has different preferences, thank god we live in a place where we have options!!! Frank

Hey 5 0 BAIT, then what would you suggest the best "bang for your buck" unit comparably to this?
One that a guy doesn't have to sell his headers and mids to pay for the deck? LOL!:D
Thanks for the info.

You can find whatever you want to believe, as far as incinuating that I am lieing about researching I can care less, but I have been looking into radios for a few months and I originally was goinna go with the 9312 but I was told about the problems and wait for the 9512. If I wanted to spend a grand on the stereo that would be one thing I know what price range I wanted to stay in and actually the 9512 is not a cheap unit, and yes 25 yrs Ive been going to this guy since I was fifteen, and I am 35 so do the math genius. Also 3 of the guys I know where the first ones to be on team rockford fosgate, and they also have graced the pages of plenty audio mags in the past (late 80's early 90's). Sorry but they have been doing stereo upgrades and competition in chicago for at 20 yrs I have been following in chicago. Also it is one thing to offer advice and not force your pov. You've seen that I have already installed but yet why would I take it back if I dont have a problem.
for over 30 yrs now Id rather spend 400 on a radio and a couple grand on my motor.:marchmellow:

I am by no way insinuating that you were lying. I wasn't saying that you didn't. I just stated that I found it hard for ME to believe thats all.

I understand what you mean about putting the money into the motor, really I do. But to post that this unit is great and not stipulate that it is great based on the price is unfair and bias to the members reading this. Now if you would have said I bought this unit and had it installed but chose it based on price, then that would make sense.

I wasn't saying that anyone didn't have the 25 years experience. I do find it hard to believe that a veteran in the audio world would chose a base model brand for his best pick. Now if you asked him for the best unit under 600 dollars, then I can understand the response. I would have given you the same answer.

Yellow Venom the best unit for the buck requires 2 stipulations. First, do you want the cheapest unit that might last? If so spend your 400-600 dollars on a Jensen. Or do you want a unit that has superior sound control, power, adaptability, and quality? If so I recommend these brands (generally): Eclipse (best sound reproduction bar none), Alpine, Kenwood (best screens), Pioneer (best pricing and readily available), and Clarion (best user interface). To actually answer your question I would go with these as an all around favorite choice: Pioneer AVICF500BT ( Circuit City: $600, Ebay $400) if you own an 06 truck and want nav, bluetooth, usb, and ipod (does not play movies just cd's and nav). If you just want a good quality unit with DVD then I recommend the Clarion VRX785BT (Dealer $999, Ebay $500). It has bluetooth, usb, ipod, and capability to add a nav harddrive. But like I stated in the previos post, everyone has an opinion, that is what makes our country so great. I chose these based on price and features. If you have an exact need out of the unit, post it up and I would be glad to help. that is why I am on the forum, to share what I know, in hopes of it being reciprocated in the area that I know nothing about: mechanics.

Now DevilDawg for calling me the "genius" I consider it a useless insult. I do not know everything, I learn new things everyday. I did not nor was I trying to insult you......but do me a favor: The next time you call someone a genius, make sure your tag line is spelled right "genius" :D

04 Black Roe S/C, zex 100 shot nos. The rest will be a suprise

I am sorry again if you took offense to my previous posts. I was just trying to make you aware. I could have said nothing but then what good would that have done. I was sharing the info to help you. You even said yourself that there is validity to what I was saying. After all ultimately I don't care what you put in your truck. I was just trying to help in the transfer of pertinent information.
