New RESCUE unit placed in service today....

....well we got our new Crash Rescue unit today. I spent all morning putting everything on it and in it. Sorry about the pic from the cell phone. It's a 2008 Dodge RAM 4500 4x4 Cummins.

I had to go look. Yes it has the 6.7 but no on the remote start.

The 6.7 is the WORST cummings motor ever made! Dodge has bought back something like 15% of them due to MAJOR problems...

Doesn't really impress me so far. But I haven't driven it with any adrenaline yet. And it does 13,500 lbs. Top speed on this one is 76 mph. Yeah, 76? That's what I said. How am I supposed to save lives with that kind of speed? But, I guess safer is better. You are no help to the patient if you don't make it to them.

Thanks BigRed. I'll remember that. The county bought this one over a Ford because of fuel mileage. Our transport ambulances are F450 and they average 7 mpg.

You can always get a programmer and take the governor off. It should add about 100 hp and 150fl-lbs too. :burnout: That would be 400HP and 760FTLBS!!!! ..... in a damn Bambalance!

All the new diesels had big growing pains when they went to the soot-scrubbers. I hope they can get them worked out. :dontknow: I remember all the new Furds were blowing fire out the tail pipe when they came out.

I forgot. The cab and chassis is new. The box is a refurbished/remounted box. Here is a pic of the truck before it went to ETR rescue vehicles to get remounted.
