I RECIEVED MY NEW THERMOSTAT FROM ROE RACING TODAY.THE QUESTION IS,HOW DOES THIS THING WORK?WHEN YA LOOK THRU IT THERE IS NOTHING THERE TO CONTROL THE FLOW.ITS JUST WIDE OPEN.DOES SOMEONE HAVE A PICK OF THE 172DEG THERMO TO SEE IF IT IS THE SAME AS THE ONE I RECIEVED?:dontknow:

to see how it works, why dont you boil some water and drop it in. then you will know exactly how it works and flows....

if i remember right, it does open and close. i know its hollow...but actually does open and close. what im really trying to say is, i dont know how it works, but it works. hopefully somebody else will chime in and fill us in. I used to know, but it slips my mind at the moment.

It works, it moves back and forth to restrict flow.

Bill.

I thought the same thing when I looked at it LOL...fstjack saw it and said ' what the hell??!' lol...its a wierd how its designed but hell, it does work. :D

it has 2 sleeves-the inner one slides inside the outer one, and the outside seal ring seals it off.

Doesn't the fluid actually flow perpendicular to the T-stat itself? When the T-stat "Closes" it actually slides the outside ring into the flow sideways. Kind of like a ball valve in a plumbers pipe, except it moves up and down.

I think...:confused::dontknow:

well guys i changed the thermo out this weekend and added a bottle of watter wetter.i also removed the two air deflectors bolted on the back side of the front grill.the thing runs at 175deg or less on the way to work this morning.it rose up to 190 or so while stopped in traffic and then cooled back down as soon as i started moving.i read an old post that boomer put out about removing these air deflectors,it works so far.:rock:
