Love my truck...Having the bands in my tranny tightened next week. Do I need a new pan and gasket for the tranny? When I first bought my truck it would chirp going into second, after about a week it would no longer due that even thought it feels and has more power(no cats). I think it has to do with the bands...should i be looking at something else. thanks

If you have the money, go billet all the way. There are a few good Transmissions shops that forum members have gone to and benefited from.

There are Shift Kits (Transgo that I know of and have).
Billet intermediate shaft.
Billet input shaft.
New valve bodies.
Billet torque converters for QCs.
Billet higher RPM drums.
Better band.
Rebuild kits along with the above shift kits.
Beefed up Tranny and Differential pans.

Westminster - Joe online here I believe.
Suncoast Transmissions in Florida.

Welcome :D

How many miles do you have on your truck? does it still down shift hard from 2nd to 1st ?

Welcome to the Club!!

I am considering the same thing on mine, so I will be following this closely!

Where's Stank? He knows the answer, I know!!

I will keep you posted. My friend is tightening the bands. Dealers wont touch it, they say its fine, but we know how that goes. moving to AZ in a month anyone out there I saw there was or will be a Phoenix GTG, any info.

Get a shift kit to firm up the shifts. You can also have them increase the line pressure a little and that will help also.

At 15,000 miles I noticed mine shifted hard when cold but then not so hard when warm...not bad just not the same. I had also experienced the tranny slipping 2 or 3 times. I took it in at 16,000 miles and had the tranny oil and filter changed and had the bands adjusted. What a difference. Tranny hasn't slipped once since and she shift nice and hard even when warm. I am at 22,000 miles now.
