New Tool Box Suggestions

Yeah, Stefan. I hear ya. I can't imagine the price of Snap-On's over there.
There's not a comparable company in Europe? I'm trying to remember where we got all our tools from when I was at Sachtler.

On the plus side, you guys have:
- Swedish Bikini Team
- Peter Forsberg
- Lene Alexander
:D

I know that FACOM is the largest tool maker in the world.... and they are in Europe. :dontknow:

If they are good enough for the Ferrari F1 Team... they are good enough for me. :p

I took a look at the Kobalt tool box this weekend. ..... I must say, the new stainless model isn't as nice as they used to be. :dontknow: :( But, I was able to test the "auto close" drawers for you! :D They work good, with about 25-30LBS in the drawers. ....... They had a 227pc tool set on sale, so I bought it for my Dad. The tools aren't as nice as they used to be either.  Too bad really, they really impressed me when they came out. :(

I went to SEARS yesterday. I must say... their tool chests are STILL awfully nice. And you can get them in black. :)

After comparing the two, I would have to go with Sears. :dontknow: Or, just break down and get a Snap-On.

Thanks Jake.
I'm lucky that I can actually go check out both Kobalt and Craftsman in person. The Sears store at the Polaris Mall has hundreds of tool boxes on display; everything from one-handle boxes to full NASCAR rigs.

The Kobalt is still topping the list though. The features (some not found on Craftsman or Snap On) are winning me over.

It might be the X-mas present to myself this year. :D

Ah, Polaris.... I haven't been there yet. I hear it's HUGE! I moved away right after they opened the first phase of Easton. I can still remember when Eastland and City Center were the places to shop! I miss Steinmart most of all tho. :p

For those still shopping, the Kobalt boxes are on sale right now at Lowe's.

Top: $318.40
Bottom: $478.40
---------------------
TOTAL: $796.40

Heavy as hell too.
Actually had to call a 2nd truck in to get the whole thing home. :D

Blah f' crapsman!

Get a Matco or Cornwell.

Cornwell was the best box I had it was a 42"er but i needed more room so I traded for a Matco Advantage top and bottom box. CHEAP AND GOOD NOT a crapsman.

And stayaway from HF FOR ANYTHING BUT BROKEN knuckles

...that will soon have a Lazerlite cover as well...and be limited by what fits in the back. :)
(Thanks for the help tonight. I appreciate it.)

Unfortunately, the budget was under $20,000, so Snap-On, Mac and Matco were out of the running.

Like I said: I get my 'disposable tools' from there- brushes, knife blades, pry bars, zip ties, etc.

BTW- the 40" stainless at HF is almost $200 more than the Kobalt. :)
