Hey Guys,
I got JMBs traction improvement kit on my 04 RC and I am very impressed with it. It installs onto the OEM traction bars. The best way I can describe it is that it takes the slack or slop out of the OEM setup, more or less preloading the bars. Below are a link to the product and some pics.

When driving with the kit installed I experience NO negative handling effects. Under normal driving conditions I cannot even tell the kit is on there. When launching, I can hit it harder out of the hole with less tire spin. When I hit second gear now I get just a small chirp, where I could previously spin the tires for a little ways.

I definitey like the kit. As with all of JMBs products the powdercoating and attention to detail are outstanding. I can't wait for my local track to open so I can compare 60' times. I will post them as soon as I have them.

This is a great (and less expensive) alternative to the $400 traction bars. With the Caltracs your ground clearance is greatly reduced. With this kit clearance is not affected.

Great job Justin.

Any idea of this would help the QC? I'm not getting wheel hop, but it spins a lot off the line.

I'm not sure what he can do for the QC. :dontknow: Maybe Justin will chime it. This kit is for RC.

Very cool find. Nice price too.

Question. When looking at my setup I noticed the U shape factory support with the rusted bolt as in your pic number 2. On one side the truck the support hangs down almost straight. On the driver side the bottom of the support is angled towards the front of the truck ie...not hanging down straight. I tried to move it, but its tight. Is there any problems there?

I don't know patrick. If I understand the part you speak of correctly I would think it should be straight. I would have to see it to know for sure though. :dontknow:

Nope. QC's do not come from the factory with the slapper bars like the RC.

Is there a difference between "slapper bars" and "traction bars", or are you just using a highly technical term? :)

The term 'Slapper bars' is used for QCs since you can carry more Ho's, and hence, have to be slapping a bit more....:D

This is what you want for your QC (from Mo no less in your area).

But I don't have the QC, lol. I like the fast trucks, ie...RC's. :p
:D :D :D

Would you like to race then?

Clamping the front of the leaf springs is an old Mopar drag racers trick. . . and it works! By clamping the leaves together, they can't slide, and if they can't slide, they don't wrap up (wrapping is what causes wheel hop). Basically, you have created ladder bars. Some racers would even remove the bands from the rear of the springs to allow the rear leaves to seperate which allowed the tires to plant better. The only negatives I've seen are a slightly stiffer ride and the tendancy for the rear to follow the crown in the road as the surface pitches from side to side. It doesn't take long to get used to it though.

hmmm neat stuff. That setup for the QC is kinda bulky but looks kinda cool from the outside. I'd do it to mine at some point. how much $$ for something like that?
Stupid traction control... Can't wait to see boomer............

WILDMAN

I have been racing Mopars for 24 years and have used clamps and so forth to the rear springs. It works better than you would think. With a little pre-load, it will start pushing the tires to the ground earlier, thus more traction. I ordered a set for my RC. I spin way to much right now, 1st, 2nd, and a little in 3rd. I will see how they work on a truck.

Thanks for the review Tim, I think everyone will really be happy with this setup, I did a few races last night from 20 or so in first, and it just barely squeeks the tires on concrete in first, a big improvement over stock!
