Hey guys how are you all doing ? I've been browsing this forum for the past like year. Ive been thinking about getting a SRT, Ive had alot of cars all fats ones form mustangs to STI's all with over 300-500whp I love trucks ! i cant get away from them I had a Chevy Silverado SS a 2wd 2005 and It was ok but it lacked some serious power. With that said, I live In Massachusetts where it loves to snow but the past 2 seasons the winters have been very mild we didnt get snow till the end of Feburary. Now to my questions, Gas is crazy but Looking at the mpg numbers they look the same as the 2005 1500 hemi I had I avg about 15mpg and maybee more if i was light on the gas but how are the Mpg's you guys are getting and has exhaust, air filter and chip upgrades helped at all with the gas ? Also, Prices on these things, I've seen some mixed reviews for the prices but if seen anywhere between 26-29 for a used SRT. And lastly does anyone use their SRT as a daily driver this would be my daily driver and maybee eventually id get a honda civic or long commutes. but thanks in advance and hopefully between the market and gas ill be able to join the club ! :star:

welcome .. now about mpg....i've never seen a 2 digit number on my roof...o , yes , sure it does in liters/100 km's... :D so only one button to press and i can choose either a very small or very big number...  ;)

9.5 MPG for me. If the roads wet....hold on. I drive a little Plymouth Breeze any day I'm not in in the mood to have someone try to pick on me :) Lots of guys drive them a bunch, it can be done....

Drove 3 hours to the beach and averaged 15.7.

If you are really concerned about fuel, then purchasing one of the least fuel efficient vehicles sold isnt going to make you happy ;)

Mine is a daily driver and average 9mpg....I live 5-6 miles from work but if I lived 30 miles or more then I would probably purchase a commuter vehicle and drive the truck less.

Just make sure to stay out of Boston. With my stock QC I averaged LESS than 7 mpg. If you are concerned about fuel mileage then make sure to get a RC since they have the 6th gear overdrive...

That helped me big time because I wasnt sure which would be better ! I think i am going to buy a RC I just gatta find one at the right price !!!

i should be ok since the round trip for work is excatly 50 miles a day
Well, lets do the math. 50 miles a day, lets use 10 mpg, that's about 5 gal of gas a day. Where I live gas right now is 3.39/gal. for premium. I would use 3.50 to play it safe. Just your trip to and from work is just under $90/week assuming a 5 day work week. If that is in your budget. Go for it. Naturally, there are other considerations (insurance, upkeep, driving fun factor:burnout: ). I do not use my truck as a daily driver, my truck computer shows avg fuel economy is 11 mpg's.

I'm in the same boat as you, viper65906, concerning mpg's... I fully understand what kinda truck this is and what to expect with a 500 hp engine, but $3.50 - $4.00 a gal. gas pretty much gets into everyone's pockets these days...

I'm thinking real hard on whether to purchase the one I'm looking at or not... I'm fortunate enough to not have to DD the truck, but I know I'll drive the snot out of it when I do drive her :burnout:  Which means I probably won't see much double digit mpg's... :dontknow:

Stinkin' gas prices :banghead:

Welcome.... If you're worried about fuel consumption, dont bother getting one. This aint no hybrid...

It is always thirsty, even with a full tank.

Mine is not my daily driver either, but with a 04 QC hemi, its not that much a differnce.

90 bucks a week isnt bad for me at all Ive spent just as much of it when i had the 05 hemi and the 05 SS so I think in comparison they will be equal. Plus now that I have a steady job and steady income and ill be closer to work wen I move back to school but this is my last year then im off to Work full time which then I cna afford a beater car so its no biggie I guess But i appreciate everything you guys have answered. I was just wondering about how MPG numbers get when you start adding exhaust CAI and tunes.... they usually get better and i know the gas mpg with my Hemi was the same as a SRT but the SRT will be a helll of a lot more fun to drive !

Mine is always steady at 11.7. I've seen it at 13.3 once.... ONCE! I think if I take her on a long commute, let's say out of town, then I should see some larger numbers.

Oh and I put 70 bucks in her Friday then 30 bucks in her yesterday. She's currently sitting at 1/4 tank.. Friggen Exxon it was $3.15 a gal for 93 oct on Friday then the next day it went to $3.17 a gal. After a quick blink it jumped to $3.20 per gallon right in my face:mad: AND IT'S JUST THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER.. Like a "summer bummer.":(

Well in town I average 9.5 to 10mpg... if I keep my foot out the pedal... if I play some, then I average 8.5 to 9.5 in town.

When I get the highway out of town, I get around 14-16 depending on the length of the trip.

If its in town highway where there is still some slow and go, then I hit around 11-12mpg.

I drive mine daily to and from work, my commute is 4.25 miles, I fill my tank about ever 12-13 days, as I dont drive much outside of that, unless I am taking a trip somewhere.

On long trips I get 14MPG around town about 10mpg, I use the truck about 50% of the time for work, but up here in BC Canada the gas just went over $5.08 a US gallon!! It is the fun factor that makes worth while.

First of all there is no Hybrid Viper motor!! LOL Stock Rc will get you around 10 to 16 city/highway. Add some mods (gears, pcm etc...) that'll drop 3 to 4 mpg. You are correct the milage is very similar to a QC hemi truck......I had one too back in 03.

Also dont forget this truck screams for mods..........that'll cost ya too. Every RC needs an upgraded clutch eventually ( $2k). Especially since you buying a used one, you dont know how much abuse it has been through.

These trucks are awesome, but pricey to own. It's good to know that going in. Good luck in finding your truck.:)

Welcome.

I also use mine as a daily driver, 05 QC

About 15 miles to work and I get about 9.8 @ 4800 feet

I'm sure it would be better at sea level.

When vacationing and driving 1500 miles and more over varied terrain, I average about 12.2. Now I could BS you and give you the numbers you would like to hear. But mine is truely a daily driver. Snow, Rain, mudd storms, mine is on the road getting me where I need to be

Jeff

Welcome! If your concerned about gas money then I wouldnt get it. Just plan on the truck being a money pit, its very addicting. My truck sucks ass in the snow Ive tried it once and havent again.

I can say I love my truck reguardless!!!

I get at least 16 on the highway and it seems I can't ever get it to drop below 10 anymore.
