Newbie needs some Answers !

Welcome to the forum! I am living in MA too. Which part in MA are you live in? If you are concerned about gas, get a hybrid car. Lol. JK I really don't care about the gas issue. I just really love my trucK. :D

If you initial concern is mpg, then what is your wallet going to do when you change oil every 3k and use 8 qts of Mobil 1 Syn? Its an $18k engine friend...you are not buying an economy vehicle.

If mpg is on your radar screen the SRT 10 is not the vehicle for you.

But even without an SRT 10 you are welcome here. Bring your expertise, personality and have a ball!

My 05 R/C is my daily driver, in town and road trips. Town is around 11.5 Highway only at 70 mph it consistantly gets 18.5 to 18.7. I have heard of the 04 R/C's with 4:10 gears doing a little better than that at about 80 mph.
Buy the truck, you will love it!!!

Mine is a daily driver as well..... Only 2-miles to work though, paid $3.47 today for gas.... Don't Care... I didn't buy the Truck for gas milage ...

Every time I get in it. It's An Experiance, ..... That's why I bought it ...

Same here. Don't buy one if your concerned about gas. Most trucks and large SUV's suck at MPG. Good luck!

I have both a 05 Hemi RCSB 4x4 and my SRT. I drive them the same in terms of city vs highway, little highway. As a comparison I average

13.7 with my Hemi
9.8 with my SRT

So if you drive mostly city and drive them the "same" expect about 4 MPG less.

Haha Like I've said before Im not worried about the MPG , I was worried about it being completely diffrent than what Ive had And to behonest the MPG is the same as the 05 Hemi I had so the MPG is outta the question. And as far as mobil 1 goes every one of my car/ trucks had it and both the hemi and the SS had taken 6-7 quarts so its not much of a diffrence there !!!! :star: I've just gatta look for a nice used one and ill be in with the crowd. BTW for the MASSholes , I'm located in Leominster. I know there was a guy there that had a silver one and he drove that thing in the blizzard we had in 04 I remember being out in my STI and i saw him crusing along haha

Just make sure to stay out of Boston. With my stock QC I averaged LESS than 7 mpg. If you are concerned about fuel mileage then make sure to get a RC since they have the 6th gear overdrive...

I get Like 5 mpg! Because 80% of the time I'm always Got my right foot into it Deep. Yesterday I filled up with 100 Octane (cost 175.00) Now its Empty again. Guess I got to Dish out the credit card again.

Good luck in your search, the only one Ive seen in the are is at the Westborough Dodge dealership. 05 Red QC Brand new, you could probably work them down a bit on the price. I would ask for new tires though.

Ok basically heres where i was and am now.
Had a 2005 dodge ram 1500 hemi slt with 440 hp about 13-15 mpg

Traded in for my 2004 SRT with about 8.9 mpg driving around
also have a 2005 Grand prix as my daily driver with way better gas mileage!

My opinion, if your looking for ga mileage the srt is not the best idea plus id never drive it in the snow and ice, i dont even like driving it in the rain personally. If you buy one , id probably get a daily driver just my thoughts.

Hey guys how are you all doing ? I've been browsing this forum for the past like year. Ive been thinking about getting a SRT, Ive had alot of cars all fats ones form mustangs to STI's all with over 300-500whp I love trucks ! i cant get away from them I had a Chevy Silverado SS a 2wd 2005 and It was ok but it lacked some serious power. With that said, I live In Massachusetts where it loves to snow but the past 2 seasons the winters have been very mild we didnt get snow till the end of Feburary. Now to my questions, Gas is crazy but Looking at the mpg numbers they look the same as the 2005 1500 hemi I had I avg about 15mpg and maybee more if i was light on the gas but how are the Mpg's you guys are getting and has exhaust, air filter and chip upgrades helped at all with the gas ? Also, Prices on these things, I've seen some mixed reviews for the prices but if seen anywhere between 26-29 for a used SRT. And lastly does anyone use their SRT as a daily driver this would be my daily driver and maybee eventually id get a honda civic or long commutes. but thanks in advance and hopefully between the market and gas ill be able to join the club ! :star:

Join the club anyways

I would not have one for a daily driver especially with the snow you get and the gas prices. Cruising my RC gets about 13.5 to 15 and in the city it gets about 8.9 to 10. Mine doesn't even get out of the garage unless it is PERFECTO outside :D To each his own though.

Good luck on whatever you decide :D :D :D

mpg

I installed a K&N intake kit and a magnaflow muffler. I average between 10 to 12 mpg. This is my everday driver. Idrive about 30 mi to and from work a day. Now if I stick my foot through the floor it will go to 10 real fast (this is burning 93 octane).
Hope this helps,
Perry
