I don't know how many of you actually keep up with what goes on over there, but this is pretty big news.

He called a 6 month cease fire(to regroup his fighters) while I was over there, and we felt it instantly. The rockets stopped comming in, our aircraft started comming back in one piece... attacks in general seemed like they were cut in half. Sadr is in command of thousands and thousands of well trained, well equiped, dedicated men. Not just a bunch of guys wearing sandals and carrying old rusty ass ak47s. If his followers obey his order, and this holds up, it could mean more troops comming home sooner.... I hope

and what about in 6 months ? :dontknow:  :(

as soon as we pull out, they will take over. I say lets just keep the oil and airfields and let them have the rest.

sounds like at least one of them is trying to deal, hope the government over there can come to some kind of terms with them so we can get our people home...

I got an email from my little brother (Navy) last week. He's returning to the US about 9 weeks earlier than expected.

He said that it has been very quiet over there the past few months.

Of course, we'll NEVER hear about stuff like that on the news.

I am still over here, and that whole deal is nuts. He will stop fighting as long as we release his guys that we have catpured. We still get mortars, etc at night....I remember the day the 6 month cease fire ended, which was about a month or so ago. The mortars started flying in........

Keep us posted on how things are going over there. When are you supposed to be heading home?
You army? MOS?

I talked with my older brother (NG) He is coming home in MAY. Thats about 2 months earlier then expected.

I sure hope things improve.
My bro leaves this Sunday for his 2nd Iraq tour.
He served in the Army as a Cav Scout in Bosnia and then went to N.G.
Was a Sgt for his 1st Iraq tour as part of the occupational force.
He's also a Paramedic / Firefighter here at home... so you KNOW his butt will be on the front lines :fight:
