I live in Jersey, and work in Manhattan, NYC. Usually I commute in via the trains. I have been putting in long hours at work the past 2 weeks, so it is better for me (and faster) to drive into Manhattan.

I usually roll real early in the a.m. ( it's still dark out) and there is minimal traffic on the roads. Soooooo I can usually drop the hammer in certain spots that the roads aren't too funked up.

Well in my normal drive in, I pull into the toll booths at the Holland Tunnel...Pay my toll, get my receipt and start to roll out of the booth- well a female NJPortAuthority Police Officer is walking in my lane towards me as I pull out...

I stopped and she said- your exhaust is way loud- "we can hear you coming".......

Now I usually blast over the Pulaski Skyway then hammer through Tonnelle Ave- which is a tunnel that leads to the road dumping into the tolls. The distance from the entrance of Tonnelle Ave to the toll booth is an estimated mile and a quarter...... I pay my toll and enter the Holland Tunnel and instintively open the rear windows to hear the exhaust reverberate.......

Should I take this as a warning?:D :D

Hahaha! Gotta love the tunnels! Unless its a written warning, no. But you can be written up for it.

It is only illegal if there is a law saying over certain decibal its illegal. If not take it as a compliment.

I remember those commutes, the fun days!!! And at what time is early before the sun comes up, right now it is light out at 5:30am.

I wish I could hear what she is hearing coming for a mile up the road..... Gotta sound awesome... LOL

I'll gladly hammer through the tunnel in your truck while you sit in the toll booth just so you can hear what she is talkin' about.:dontknow: :D

Here it is "Officer Discretion" on what is too loud, which makes it unfair for some people when an officer is not a "fan" of performance vehicles

That's why i let loud systems slide, my truck is loud too. Wouldn't be fair for me to write someone for the same thing i have.

Aint that the truth- a few years back I had installed a performance exhaust on another vehicle, and the following day I was pulled over, the Leo stated that my "doughnut" must be bad. :dontknow: I promptly took offense to this and stated this was a brand new exhaust system not even a day old- and there is no doughnuts in this brand new exhaust system- if you have doughnuts on your mind they are up the road (Dunkin Doughnuts) as I was saying this a Harley happened to rumble by as I pointed and said wtf????

Needless to say a backup officer was on the scene with "her" hand on her holster.....

When I handed over my credentials I made sure to slip in atleast a half of the dozen PBA cards I keep.....

I was given a warning. I feel though if I didn't have my arsenal of "friends" I would have been ticketed, and possibly arrested for being combative......

I respect all LEO's but for out and out bs when I was doing NOTHING wrong other than driving home from the train station, I felt I was being harassed......:(

so, u were still on the jersey side?? wtf u expect from the garden statees :p...

I used to drive from seacaucus... take the 3... through the lincoln... and worked on 5'th ave.... unfortunately I didn't have my truck.... i had a company rental car < a town car lol>... did that for 3 months... i miss nyc :(

Where do you park that truck in Mabhatten? I always avoid taking my truck to midtown for that reason. The only lots that take trucks are either all the way on the westside or east side:dontknow: :D

BY the way for those who don't know Secaucus got its name from this joke...
You can "smell caucus before Secaucus"
Its funny, so shut it!!
It is a swamp and used to be a huge pig farm

If you have no fear the proper response is....

That is funny, if my exhaust is so loud why can I hear you?

At 5 sh in the AM, maybe you pi$$ed her off when you woke her up after hearing your exhaust a mile away. :D Be proud.
