Guys,

I went to my wife's cousins house last night, and her husband showed me the new Porsche Carrera and I saw something that I thought was pretty cool. The best way to describe it is an invisible bra for the front of the car (the areas most prone paint chips from rocks and bug stain damage).

Has anyone heard of this? or Has anyone actually installed it on their truck?

If anyone out there is like me I would like to protect my truck from getting chipped for those damn dump trucks hauling gravel.

If there are enough people out there that are interested in this product we might be able to do a group buy. :D
 
They had it on all the cars at the SRT experience, and it looked, uh how do I put this? Well, it looked like shit. On some of the cars it wasn't quite clear any longer, and on all the cars you could see the edge of it. Not for me.
 
I saw it installed on Sean Roe's wife's vehicle. Looked nice, could barely tell it was there and it hadn't dried yet.

NBT was down there too and asked the installer about doing our trucks. Said it would be about 150 bucks installed. The guy seemed to know what he was doing. I wouldn't want to try it out myself on my truck however.
 
i have this on my truck and love it. the dealership that i bought the truck from asked me before i picked it up if i would like them to put iton.i think that it is well worth the little extra money. they say to treat it just like the paint don't have to do anything different with it. most people don;t see it but when someone looks close that hasn't ever seen one they think that someone have keyed your truck. good product i would say go for it

Had the " Ultra-Shield " installed . FANATASTIC. All the driving from Naples to Ft. Lauderdale and Moroso definitlely saved the front end . I belive they have a shop in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Here is there number from Ft. Myers 239-768-0118. Check out the web for more info. Around $500.installed.
 
I have it on the front and all along the lower edge of the side body panels (the rockers). On the sides, the edge of the clear film is right on the sharp body line so there is no visible line. I love it and will never have another vehicle without it. It has already served its purpose many times over. ;)
 
I had the 3m product put on mine, 3 different times!! It looked like shit!!

However, it shows up alot more on dark colors, i.e. black & red, and any chips or imperfections already in the paint are magnified!!

Also, a really good installer is a must. The front bumper on the truck is a nighmare!!So said the 3m installer!!

I have seen it on a silver Viper and it looked great!!
It would probably be OK if you put it on when vehicle is new!!
 
I know a few people who have had this done. Some look great, others look like crap, mostly crap. Over time they lost there clear and became....foggy and white.

I guess it depends on who does it and how much you spend.

Keep in mind, you just don't take it off, can anyone say repaint
 
you can always use your truck as garage furniture. every other day just a little dusting, built in stereo. garanteed to never suffer damage at the hands of others......

I agree 100%!! I am totally over the chips and scratches. Can't see em unless the truck isn't moving!!:p

I use to be so stressed over the little shit, not anymore!! i seem to enjoy driving it even more now!!:rock:
