No more SRT or Ralph Giles heading it

Well that sucks!!

Kinda saw this coming for obvious reasons (well to me anyway). I don't know why they would even mention the Viper Trucks as they were not an SRT Brand product.

SRT's biggest mistake was locking the PCM's. Not that there is that many people that wanted to mod their Viper's, it just eliminated any possible sales to those that wanted to.

I did not realize the aftermarket still had not unlocked the PCMs. Poor decision making on SRT's part.

Really stupid as part of their sales pitch was "going back to a forged engine for those who want to mod it!!!"

Could see that coming, a specific brand for a car thats to highly priced compared to others. Even the Challenger, Jeep and the rest are over priced. just my .02

I wonder what the heck "the Viper will be refreshed in 2015" means?! That may delay my plans.

Maybe I don't understand this fully but wasn't the SRT division just taken a step away from the Dodge name the same way Ram was? I never understood why they had to break them up other than for investment reasons to separate less profitable sections of the business from the more lucrative parts. It all seems to be the normal smoke and mirror BS of big corporations. If they can produce an SRT Viper that sells who cares whether it falls under the SRT division or under Dodge ( besides the bean counters).

Guys have gotten around the PCM issue, it just cost $5-10K for the engine management system. It's a third party company that makes the PCM and they are the problem. The SCT didn't come out for Gen 2 and 3s till 2007 or so. Compared to other manufactures it does suck that the car isn't mod friendly.

Sucks but I saw it coming. Plus working in the car industry, it confuses the average joe. People still refer to the new Viper as a Dodge. I understand what they were trying to do and if more people were gearheads it would have worked.

Just like Ram being it's own company, I would venture to guess that 9/10 still call it a Dodge Ram even though it hasn't been a "Dodge" for 5 years
