wow...glad you are Ok......

5.13's..........??????????????????????????????

he may want oe of stinkers new locker upgrades.....or 4.88s

The rear end in the RC has a mind of its own. The Stinker rear end with the locker has tamed that beast. Traction has always been a problem, and dozens of us have lost the rear end in many different ways...the locker solves the problem...just for safety, the Stinker Detroit Locker keeps your ass in line! Fish tail days are over, it is all locked up in a straight line...much more logical, efficient and safe.

Happy no one was hurt...unleash this beast and it will bite your butt. Do all you can to manage the known problems...

sorry for your friends truck. But as always , most stupiditys are done to show off..... But it's our nature i'm afraid and can tell i did it myself quite a few times in the past ....
Now i hardly take anyone with me in the truck , as they want to see how quick it is and i always regret it afterworths have putting one in danger to show my horses.... No , now i do it alone and if i'm loosing my rear i'm not ashamed to ease the pedal....

Ok , some $$$ and all is history :D

I don't normally disagree with my elders, buuutttt. Well I got so say you are a little off on that. A locked or working posi rear ends is what generally causes these problems. When both tires are locked and spinning they pretty much have a mind of their own are are going to try and pass the rear end any way they can, this is even worse when coming trough a corner. If you have an open rear you are going to just spin one tire and the other acts like an anchor holding the rear end from sliding side to side.

If you have ever driven a fully locked rear compared to a open on the ice you know what I mean. Come on over and I can show you in my off-roader where I can lock and unlock the rear end with the flick of a switch. Same goes in the rain a locked rear end can get spooky.

To some degree what you are saying is true in that both tires will go the same speed with a locker where sometimes a limited slip may give you different tire speed. But no mater what if you brake them loose coming out of a corner with either it can get wild. With the weight of these thing when they brake loose and then snap back their is alot of force. Yes I been their and done that.

Marc it locks under heavy acceleration, it unlocks when turning corners and is unlocked in normal driving.

And relating to MoparMudders comments...my experience is the following:

Before the locker rear end, coming off the line and when shifting into 2nd and 3rd, the truck would fish tail. With the locker rear end, it does not. When I push it too hard on the track the tires break loose but the truck stays straight.

This got my attention Prof . But i'm more in with Mopar mudder.... I think we must consider how long both tyres are spinning. If this is "long" then there's the law that states that friction in driving direction is overpowered and this means there's no friction also in any other direction. The rear will go sideways due all influences at the moment ( centrifugal, wind, road,... ) and can only be corrected by counter-steering . A rally driver can steer his car sideways trough a corner by breaking loose his both tyres on power , thus beaking friction . If you have not enough power or no locking rear , try to go sideways at the beginning of a corner.... no , it does not work. Ok, it can by using the ebrake , but then again you break friction for a moment and use it to set the car sideways.
When the spinning is not "long" i think before going sideways alot in each upshift the tyres got grip again and keep the car straight.
At a time over here they were experimenting with 100 % locked rears in Porsche rally cars. That was sliding all corners and only for the prof's drivers ! But after a deadly accident they went back to posi traction.... ( 40 % , 50 % ,... )
