i'm just a noob on NOS... just asking myself : :dontknow:

1) does it flows as you trigger it untill you close it ??? and the amount of
flow , is this regulated by the rev's ??

2) and with a "common" botlle , how long does a filling last ? for example ,
how many runs can you make with a botlle ?

3) i see your posts with a 75, 100 shot , a 150 shot... what are those ? i
asume a quantity but in what measures ?

4) with a small "shot" , can you blow a engine do to mis-use ?

Thanx alot for volunteers to answer my questions....

YO!!
#1 NOS can be activaded different ways depending on what system you have. Mine has a wire that taps into the throttle position sensor wire that you program upon install that once you flip the switch to ARM the system it sprays any time you floor it! The amount of flow is determined not by revs but by bottle pressure and size of jets.
#2 On a 150 shot I get 4-5 1/4 mile passes. It costs about $3 per pound to refill here.
#3 Shot means HP. so a 150 shot is approximately 150 extra horse power.
#4 Yes you can blow up your motor if mis use occurs on a small shot. You do not want to activate the spray under 3k rpm or let it hit the rev limiter while spraying.

#1. There are many ways to trigger it.

#2. Not sure on this one.

#3. Those numbers are approximately how much HP you will gain.

#4. NOS can be touchy stuff. Two major things can go wrong with NOS. First is that it can come on to low in the RPM range. That usually results in blowing the bottom end out of the engine, or the heads trying to become the next satellite. The other thing that can happen is for some reason the auxillary fuel cuts off. Engine goes instantly lean and burnt pistons are the result.

Barry there is an old saying in America when it comes to NOS......its my favorite........sums it up very well.

"Nos is like a hot chick with an STD, you want to hit it, but are afraid of what might happen" !!

Hey Rice eater is It right that the Nitrous never gets burned and Instead it acts as a buffer against detonation. Oxygen gets burned with the right amout of fuel right.

NAWS!!!!! :D

1) Activation can be via a Wide Open Throttle Switch. Duration of the spray is normally via an RPM Window Switch. Meaning, only arms if the pedal is pressed to the floor, and only operates between certain RPMs. There are other safety devices such as a Fuel Pressure Safely Switch which will deactivate if the Fuel Pressure drops. Nitrous can be very friendly.

2) Common bottle is 10lbs. How long it lasts, depends on your "shot"

3) "shot" measure the additional HP rating you SHOULD gain. 75 shot = 75 HP increase.

4) Small shot = no. :)

He's kinda right. NOS itself is not flammable. It super cools the incomming air, making it denser. The denser the air, the more gets into the cylinder. Throw in some extra fuel and whala, more HP.:D

What is does is add two molecules of oxygen, so it's the same as more air. More air requires more fuel. No fuel, bye bye pistons.

Isn't there such a thing as a dry system that doesn't add any extra fuel? Just cools the air (adds the oxygen) and boosts the HP a little.

If you decide to spray I would highly recommend using a window switch. There are diffrent brands out there but I went with the MSD.

a dry system needs extra fuel as well. but instead of injecting it with the NOS, it has a 2nd fuel pressure regulator that ups the fuel pressure when the NOS is spraying, so that the stock injectors flow the additional needed gas.

dry systems are ok for small shots, IMO 50 hp or so. You can easilly max out your stock fuel pump using this method however and run lean.

Hey THANX guys so far.. you really rock
I'm beginning to understand a bit the NOS system.... , tought that a 100 shot was some 100 cubic "things "/ min or so...

Just a following question... what's a window switch ? :dontknow: ok, for limiting flow between certain rev's , but from were the name ???
Is it mounted on the window :D or do you mean by window a "fenced" range of rev's ???

Shoot your answers, i'm the noob here :D

PS is it legal in the US driving around with a NOS botlle ? Here it is strictly forbidden ! as many other things...

Click on my sig video link....this is the setup that boomer does....10#'s just isn't enough.

Man , WAZZSUP , this is some cool hot stuff you got there ! :hmmmm2: :hmmmm: :afraid:  ;) :top: :top: :top: How much shot ?

PS What a big air duct ! no restrictions i assume... :D

Window Switch = The window of RPM's you want the nitrous to be active during. IE - between 2500-5500 RPM's It won't spray below 2500RPM's nor above 5500RPM's. Only sprays in the 2500-5500 "window".
