Obama Trying to Postpone DTV Switch

My goal this month is to read the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. For some reason I am on the hunt. A couple guys that I work with have bought a pistol and they had to to ask the skipper if it was okay to have the pistol in their house. (Seems Un-Constitutional to me.)....BTW, neither of these guys live in Base Housing. So why do they have to ask? Even if they did live in Base Housing, why do they have to ask?

All AMERICAN citizens have the right to "bear" arms, right? Why is the Military any different? Hell, you would think the Gov't would rather us own them than anybody else....but, this is not the case.

On post or off post, it shouldn't matter. They shouldn't have had to ask anybody in your chain of command. If they were on post, they would have to register the guns with the MPs. Atleast, that's how it is with us

With the Government making noise about encoding ammunition which will allow them to know how much and what caliber ammo you are buying, it is driving up demand for current unmarked ammo and therefore the price (the old supply/demand thing). So although they are not directly increasing the price, They certainly have a hand in it. Oh yeah, once they do start encoding the bullets, it has been said that they will go up 5 cents a round to cover the encoding process and to cover documentation etc.

I think if you did some research you would find that it is not the government making the noise, it is the manufacturers. They are the ones with something to gain out of this, and they are doing just that. There is more to it than meets the eye, but when all else fails I say follow the money.



Mississippi is another southern state, generally perceived as pro-gun, that is considering such legislation. Interestingly, a look at the text of the bill shows that one of the cosponsors is newly elected Senator Eric Powell. I say "interestingly," because of Senator Powell's NRA endorsement, his platform that includes "Second Amendment rights," and his promise that he "will lead the opposition to any move in the legislature to undermine our Second Amendment rights." He certainly seems to be "lead[ing] the opposition" in a rather odd direction, doesn't he?

It's all different once you sign your name on that dotted line Kris. Hell, guys aren't even allowed to have motorcycles on some bases. In a lot of places only NCO's are even allowed cars.

I understand that the military must keep good order, but just like everywhere else in our lives it seems they don't know where the line should be drawn.

I can't remember that old saying right now, something about those in the military fighting for democracy, not enjoying it.

I've never heard of a base not allowing soldiers to ride bikes:dontknow: and the only place (as far as I know) where lower enlisted can't have a car is Korea

I sort of misspoke, it's not necessarily the base, but the command. Many commands now require approval for enlisted personnel to own and operate motorcycles. Many of these commands make it tough if not impossible to gain this approval. (and there are also rules that are not required of civilian riders, such as that goofy orange vest)

Japan is also on that list of places where cars are not permitted for enlisted guys, just to name one.

My point is simply that just because you fight for our freedoms, doesn't mean that you are entitled to them, one of the first things I learned in the Corps. Is it right? Hell no, not unless it effects the security of our country IMO.

Getting back to the original post about the conversion postponement, I Live in the only place on earth that has already converted completely. Wilmington, NC. We had no problems. It isn't that big of a deal. We have alot of poor low income families downtown and they seem to be doing fine. TV thefts haven't even gone up! If you can't afford a new tv or the box, just get reg cable it is 8 bucks a month. This is just retarded. It seems he wants to stop everything he didn't think of and start everything new. Can't we just move on a progress? Oh well. Just thought I would give some insight into an already converted city and the lack of "issues"

It concerns me that with all the other issues presenting threats to this country, that need attention, why is watching a Damn tube even on Obamas or his staff's radar at this time?

Hey! That's two things the O'man and I have in common. I like to spend my money and he likes to spend my money and we both have MIL's living with us. But his house is big enough he may never run into her. Specially if he tells the SS to keep her out of his sight.

I wonder if she's getting a huge salary as a nanny??

Well, if I'm being honest I have to say that if I won the presidency there is not a question in my mind that I would be moving Mom in with me, it's the least I owe her. And I would also do it for my kids, having Grandma around sure couldn't hurt with all the changes going on in their young lives. Shouldn't that be seen as family values? What are better values than to try to keep your family as close together as possible?

I'd be willing to bet that the White House operating budget changed not one bit based on this, it's not like they need to build an addition or a MIL house out back hehehe.

I'm not busting on him but what makes you think she's not. I really don't see how she could without raising a bunch of questions.
It would be great if she took care of the kids just because she loves them.
