I have a question I probably regret asking since lets face it you guys arent nice!
With a tuner is it safe to use octane boost for the higher octane tunes? Im in Hawaii and not much choice of fuel octanes.
Thanks

We are the nicest people ever!!! We just bust balls in the process of showing our niceness....:dontknow: What's the highest octane fuel you can get in Hawaii and what fuel is your tune done for?

I wouldn't mind using octane booster as well, the highest octane I can get is 91, and I would love to use my 93 tune. I read in the owners manual that it is not recommended on the viper motor.

Great post I sniff octane booster

Sent from my iPhone 6 while driving 100 mph on a dirt road

I believe I read somewhere ratings in Hawaii are 87/89/91. Plus it's legally for the state to mix blends..get that one. Right now gas over there is averaging $4.37 a gallon..ouch.

you ever seen a truck with some miles that's been using that shit?

i wouldn't mess with it EVER...

I use 91 octane with Lucas octane booster with nitrous on a 91 tune. I have 103k miles and ran an 11.561 with that. What you talkin bout Willis?

At one point, almost everybody here said a 150 shot of NOS would make our motors go boom. :D

Yup. Used Lucas and Torco, never had an issue

Nice informative video, but they didn't test Lucas and I wouldn't consider that test engine a performance one. I would guess there would be a difference because your using a different tune in our trucks and the 10 uses the higher octane per the factory. I wouldn't expect any gains from putting octane booster in a Toyota Camry either. I use it mainly to raise the octane points anyway, not for more power.

They sell toluene by the gallon at Home Depot and other hardware stores.

Brew your own, what's the worst that could happen...

100% pure acetone here....2 fluid ounces per 10 gls. (93 octane) and it runs smooooth.

Octaine boost is not meant to be a power adder. It's meant to prevent detonation allowing u to run a stronger tune or more boost resulting in more power,,

In the video the results show a loss of 2% which makes sense. Octain makes your fuel less explosive there for not as much power. Unless you have a tune to add more timing which would normally detonate and cause your mor motor to blow. So now u decrease the risk of boom boom. And go faster.

Appreciate the compliment.

No, you can not run a 93 tune on 91 plus octane booster. HotRod did a really good write up on octane boosters, how they work, etc. I'll see if I can dig up the article. It was an informative read.

Speak for yourself! I've worked hard for my reputation. :D

Will it evan make it any faster
Yes. In fact, it's been proven that running on a 50/50 mix of diesel and octane booster will knock 3-4 seconds off your 1/4 mile times. Get video. :D
