Ok i work with a diesel dan bowtie boy.

he says a 5.7 350 gm motor and the 505 8.3 viper motor have the same size pistons, well he says the viper motors are junk and the 350 pistons are bigger.

I am not a big motor guy with specs and such, but to me you have 350 vs 505 big difference in cubic inch so i don't understand where he gets off with these trash talking comments he comes up with.

so if anyone could give me any info on this would be great :)

If I can remember right before there were custom Pistons for out engines people used the chev ones and rods and had to modify the crank I think TNVIPER did this but I can't remember. I know our bore is 4.030 which I think is the same a the 350.

we have 2 mo holes also:rock:

And, if he's a died in the wool bow tie guy, all the fact in the world would not change his view

I'll tell ya one thing, I'll take an acr over a 350 chevy any day. Tell bowtie boy to design a better v10 if he thinks it's junk, and then he can run his flaps...
:toilet:

Bore & stroke determine cubic inches and litres.....bigger piston does not equal more power....more to it than that.........I have Chevy piston & Rods in my truck....forged OEM parts were hard to come by 3 yrs ago....my cylinders are bored .010 over and the crank was turned down .020 to make the Chevy innards work...

Correct me if I'm wrong (sentence structure wasn't very good, sorry)... but I believe he said the guy stated the pistons were the same size as a Chevy 350, and the Viper's factory PISTONS were junk.

He is correct on both counts. The factory pistons in our Gen3 Viper engines are junk. They are way to thin on top, and can burn through with moderate boost from forced induction. The ring lands are also very thin and week. The Chevy pistons are a better design (regarding build quality) when compared "stock-to-stock".

:dontknow:

No no, he is saying that the viper block has very small pistons compared to a 350, not pistons being junk the whole viper concept being trash.

yes and who ever said about die hard bowtie thats him, chevy bowtie with a piston ripping threw it tattoo.

none the less i know the 5.7 was a good build as the 4.3 also.
i'm not smashing on gm just wanting to get some facts thats all.

but yet i could go on and on about stuff he says, the rear is junk the trans is junk etc etc.

there is not much i have to say really he has a 05-06 duramax at best with intake/exhaust/banks setup ran a 14.9 at best.

maybe he just really wants a srt10 and can't swallow his pride and chevy tattoo :dontknow:

Well, in that case, you can tell him the pistons on both motors are the same size (4.030 bore).... and to STFU.

:D He's just jealous his Chevy only has 8 pistons.
