I HAVE READ A FEW DIFFERENT ANSWERS ON THE ORIGINAL WHEELS FOR OUR TRUCKS-

FORGED OR LOW PRESSURE CAST- WHEELS AND CAPS HAS A SET OF FOUR AND IN THE DESCRIPTION IT SAYS LP CAST THEN POLISHED ORIGINAL WHEELS FROM DODGE, IT EVEN HAS A PICTURE OF THE STAMP FRON ITALY ON THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL ALONG WITH THE DODGE EMBLEM.I ASSUME THESE ARE MADE BY SPEEDLINE.

WHAT IS THE TRUTH

THANKS:eek: :star:

On the back side of my OEM polished wheels they are stamped "SPEEDLINE".

I know cause I had them off yesterday to rotate them and I cleaned/polished the backs and insides of them, lol.

If I remember right they advertised them as Forged.

FORGED IS WHAT I KIND OF THOUGHT BUT WITH THAT DEALER STATING LOW PRESSURE CAST I WAS WONDERING IF THE ONES THEY HAD WERE "KNOCK OFFS" AND NOT SPEEDLINE OEM FORGED

I GUESS IT IS THE RISK OF INTERNET SHOPPING

THANKS FOR THE REPLY

There are a number of knock offs on the internet. Buyer beware.

Everything I've seen says the OEM wheels are forged in Italy. Kind of makes sense for a 5000+ lb. truck capable of 150 MPH. Also, I doubt if they would have taken the time to machine the inside of a cast wheel.

With the tire mounted It cant be more than 45lbs

More interested in the wheel alone.

Everyone always has this bug about our OEM forged wheels and cast aftermarket wheels. Bottom line is a cast is more than strong enough, but the question is, how much added weight are we talking about? The only way to know is to know the real OEM weight, then if you are looking at aftermarket rims get the weight from the wheel manufacturer. Then you can make an educated purchase and not just keep OEM because people say you have to keep your forged wheels. I rather buy based on facts and not what people read and repeat on the net :)

The stock wheels are very light considering they are 22's. I think my Saleen 18in wheels were just as heavy.

Anyone? SOmeone has to know. At least the people who say keep your forged wheels, they must have looked up the weight to compare??

I believe 78 lbs with rubber... can't recall if someone has weighed rim only...thought 54 #.... 24 for the Pirelli... need a more solid confirmation though... ;)

Good quality cast wheels will be almost, if not as strong as forged. The major difference is that the cast wheels will be considerably heavier. We already suffer from to much unsprung weight. I would not want to add to it personally.

OK, just need a confirmation on the 54 number. I am in the process of getting the weight of a cast plated replica so we can have all the facts

I plan on putting replicas on mine if the weight is 5 more or less. We shall see.... If not I guess I will try the Detroit area for platers, no one in the Toledo area will plate rims! They will powder coat but not plate here.

OK folks... I just had the vendor who is selling the replicas (cast) weigh a rim.... 43lbs. Now all we need to know is the weight of our OEM wheels. Since we have not had that reply yet I am guessing no one knows for sure?
