Offsite winter storage

Well it has come to this. 4 vehicles, all big for the most part and only a 24x24 garage. I must store a vehicle away from my garage this winter. The SRT Ram is the one going.

Anyone else store away from home? What cost per month are you getting?

I actaully found a place up the street from me, not climate controlled, that is the only downside. Fensed area with security cameras, can even take it in and out as I want, not that I will. Will go over a few times to start it. $48/mo. Did not seem to bad. Since it is not climate controlled I plan to put some plastic on the floor to help keep moisture from coming up from the ground. Any other tips?

Add some fuel stabilizer to the gas tank.

Run some fuel protector thru it, remove the battery, put on open box of bakin soda inside to soak up moisture in air, jack it up off the ground, to keep tires from flat spotin, or just take them off and home, to keep from getting stolen. also put tape on all entries into engine, tail pipe, fuel tank, etc, to keep varmits from laying waste.

Yup, Remove wheels, put each jack stands in a large galvinized tub, fill with water(add some antifreeze) then put out 1000 boxes of Decon Varmit bait.
If they don't eat themselves to death first they will drown themself with Poison water You also can run it up in gear so as to keep all the seals/ bearings lubricated. Hahahaha!!! A buddy of mine had a "vacuum-packed" K&N filter from doing that on his '70 Cuda. (He put a plastic bag around the air-filter, and forgot about it.)

You gotta be carefull with jacking up the car and leaving the suspension at full droop with the weight of the axles and tires pulling at the springs. This can be harmfull for the suspension. Jack stands under the front A arms and rear axel to keep the suspension compressed is the way to go if you go as far as removing the tires. Hell, what better time to clean all the damned break dust off the inside of the rim!!

You can keep it my house. I'll even drive every now and then and make sure everything gets aired out. You have to keep full coverage insurance on it and leave me a gas card of coarse! IF your mods accidently appear on my truck and are no longer on yours, I wouldn't have a clue why. Oh, and do you have any good CD's by chance?

Sorry I couldnt contribute positively to your thread, but I seen a chance and had to take it. I hope you find a nice winter home for the truck. I would make sure the ENTIRE truck is sealed up though. I worked at Infiniti and a customer's G35 rarely got driven, they even kept it at their home. A rodent of some sort stored dog food in the heater box as well as got super hungry and ate some wiring, causing the car to be totally DEAD. The entire wiring harnesses in the engine bay had to be replaced as well as some of the body harnesses. Seal that baby up TIGHT!

Yep, seems like everything is more expensive up there...

If limited on garage floor.....go UP>......

Buy two of the four post lifts , several are being sold in Indiana, about $1800 each, then stack your cars/trucks, and therefore keep the babies home under your watchful eye.....some insurance companies may NOT cover when they are not at your home garage, and when you store away from home, you have to keep an eye from time to time so that someone doesn't break into your storage area....buying lifts now will pay for themselves in the future, rental storage spaces are constantly going up, plus with the lifts, it is very easy to clean your cars underneath and wax, change fluids yourself....etc....that is the best way to go....my $.02, "my life has changed dramatically since I discovered stackable livestock !!!!":rock:
