Took my truck out today, it's been sitting for about 2 months, right when I was getting home I smell s burning smell, popped the hood, oil everywhere, and the dipstick was popped out. Oil pressure is high, but temps are normal. It was about 25 degrees outside, and I let the truck warm up for 20 min before I drove it. I had my oil cooler lines replaced by dodge less than a year ago, because they were leaking. Thanks.

hmmm how high was your oil pressure?.... mine idles at 75 an pegs out at 100 when i step on it but i don't blow the dip stick out of it?.. what was the gauge reading?..also look at your oil filter to see if it is ballooned.. some thing can possibly be plugged up

check your crank case vent system:dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow:

idle is between 50-75, but i dont think it was ever that high before, crank case system is breathing fine through catch can.

Two things come to mind:

1. +1 on crankcase vent. I don't see a correlation between oil pressure and the dipstick since it's not in a pressurized oil galley - it's in unpressurized oil in the crankcase.

2. Maybe check the lines again? They don't improve the design with the replacements, so it wouldn't be unheard of for the comparatively new ones to let go. Probably tough to tell with the mess though. Sorry bud. :(

The high pressure could be due to the low temps = higher viscosity = higher pressure.

Is it possible maybe last time the oil was changed the dipstick got left out alittle? Over time oil got all over the engine? :dontknow:

Also did you check the filter to see if it bulged:dontknow:

:dontknow: Never herd of this without boost. We have to tie-down our dipsticks in the forced-air-induction models......:bandit:

Quick

not saying this happened to yours BUT last time i saw this was in 2003. the car had massive blow by and the engine was shot. (Mitsubishi was not worth rebuilding) i remember the dipstick being blown out. if it lost all its oil how long did it run without oil in it, might be a big problem.

oil light never came on, and it was driven multiple times after last oil change with no problems. seems like I lost a decent amount of oil, its dark outside now, cant get a good look at filter.

i dont have too:dontknow: :dontknow:

One of 2 things that will cause the dipstick to blow out.

Crankcase vent isnt working or you have so much blowby the crankcase vent cannot keep up.

Would the Roe oil cap breather help with this?

What breather system do you currently have on the truck? Is it the factory setup going into the intake manifold or a aftermarket style?

Adding the oil cap breather is only going to mask the current problem. Instead of adding another breather I would find the problem and fix it. It could be as simple as a plugged breather filter (if he is using a aftermarket system) or it could be as bad as a hurt piston.
