:dontknow: :dontknow: Finally got my car up in the air, sems there is a lot of oil dripping from the passenger side. loose valve cover ?

I am going to tighten every bolt I can reach and clean it up to see if that stops it, could someone tell me torque ratings for the various bolts ? I just bought a new craftsmen torque wrench today too, so any tips could help.

I was starting to wonder because I have had to add so much oil isince I bought the truck. Strange thing is there is never an oil pattern in my garage where I park. :dontknow:

howdy
there is a thread on here that gives the torque specs.
CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL COOLER LINES
if it looks to be the right front corner probably them worthless P.O.S. yard bird caca lines. thats about all they are good.

& correction: you have a TRUCK. an awesome beautiful beast:congrats: :burnout:  :congrats: :burnout:

and if it is the lines. Stinker's lines is the best replacement/upgrade lines you can get. plus he is gettin ready to put them on sale:marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow:

suspec#1: sloppy oil changes....

I just pulled the plug and filter, oil everywhere, I think I overfilled it. I really hate the dipstick it always seems to read low.

I am thinking overfill or possibly just a sloppy oil change, I know I spilled a bunch on my first attempt just now....

I will check the cooler lines, I did a search for the torque rating thread, no luck yet...

thanks for the reply though!

I believe the 04's require 8.75 qts., with filter, for an oil change... I kinda had the same issue with mine and most of the problem was the truck was overfilled with oil.

i know dam well there was a sticky thread here with torque specs.

i think i will just wonder around in little circles for a awhile:marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow: :marchmellow:

Also check where the dipstick enters thr block, mine leaked there at one point.

Your oil usage is from blow which is inherent in this motor setup. Get a catch can from JMB and you will solve the oil usage problem!!

don't fill it up to the top fill mark keep it half way or 1/4 above the bottom hash mark. What happens when oil heats up? it expands if you fill it to the full mark your gonna overflow once your motor gets to operating temps. Good way to blow a valve cover gasket, and it will come up the dipstick tube also it will always go out the path of least resistance.
