I am still pretty new to this truck. I have had the truck for about 6 months and have put around 1000 miles on it. My question is what should the oil pressure be at idle and normal driving with using the recommended Mobile 1 0w-40. Mine runs at about 25 at idle and 60 at normal driving. Does that sound about right? Any help would be great.

Thanks
Blake

Mine varies from 40 to 90....but I use 15/50 oil due to FI....you are well within normal..

Are you using the mobil 1 15/50? I was looking at this for the extra wear additives and zinc content. It's recommended for SC applications due to the higher residual film depth, but I am a little hesitant during the winter here in NY, as she still gets driven.

Anyway, just wondering how your experience has been with that weight, especially if you've driven recently in the cold.

Thanks. -Adam

I should have stated that I am getting those #s with Royal Purple 20/50. I will be switching to Mobile 1 15/50 when I do my next oil change...probably 2-3 weeks.

I have had no trouble with the 20/50 with temps in the 20s....but my truck is not a DD so it almost never sits outside enough to cool down completely. The garage stays around 50 degrees when the outside is in the 20s..

Just in case you wonder why I am switching to Mobile 1....The RP seems to do fine but costs around $20 more per oil change to use...I feel that both brands are top quality but the RP is not worth paying the extra $$. If they cost the same I might stay with the RP..:dontknow:

A 15w-xx will be good down to around 10 degrees F:

My oil pressure gauge doesnt work???? Its stuck on 80 and has been for a year.

Mine gets stuck occasionally too. But if I tap it or drive over a bump, it un-sticks itself. Anyone know why this is?

Edit: oil temp gauge, not pressure. I guess I'm hijacking now.

Pardon my ignorance, I'm not familiar with all the different years and options but how can you tap a gauge that's in the dash? Oh, shit the edit just soaked in, sorry.

Royal Purple 0w-40 let's the engine turn over easily at -10F. When I switched to it, it also quieted the valve train noise quite a bit in the heat. I'm gonna put RP in the tranny this spring too.
