I changed my oil yesterday and got a little over 9 quarts in it...Today I noticed the needle for the oil PSI guage on the dashmovinf between 25-75?
Is this normal because I don't recall it doing this before I changed the oil, but then again I never really paid any attention to it. At idle it's down about 25 cruising stays at 50psi and getting on it goes almost to 75psi?:dontknow:

By the way I almost got hit with the double gasket..when I removed the oil filter the gasket was stuck to the housing and I almost didn't catch it..good thing I double checked:D

:eek:BEWARE THE DREADED DOUBLE GASKET!!!!!!! This is a classic example why we must ALWAYS double check when removing the old filter. It's a simple look at the fliter gasket. Even then I still feel and look at the housing seal face. Glad you caught it bro or you'd have oil all over your garage floor.

As for the pressure, that sounds about right. As long as you have consistant oil pressure, you're good.

Yes, that's normal. When you first start your truck it will be around 75 (at idle), then as it warms up it will be 25 (at idle) and while driving somewhere near 50

Ok cool I just never paid attention before and you know how you do something, afterward you check everything to make sure nothing is wrong:rock:

And Venom I was lucky I was about to spin the filter on and decided to take some oil from the housing to put on the new gasket and luckily when I did that the gasket stuck to the housing fell...then I cleaned with a rag just to be sure...I read abou tthe dreaded double gasket and thank God I caught it:congrats:

Yeah the first time I changed my oil, I sprayed 4-5 quarts of fresh Mobil 1 all over my driveway and ramps due to the double gasket. It was my own personal, miniature reenactment of the Exxon Valdez. I should have bought some stuffed animals to throw into the mess to make it a little more realistic....

thats funny right there....:p

they mean the gasket on the old oil filter was stuck to the block, and the new gasket on the new oil filter, 2 gaskets wont seal and you get ^that

I got introduced to the dreaded double gasket when I was a kid with my second car. Changed the oil and crap was squirting everywhere. Could not understand it. I knew I put the filter on tight. Put it back on ramps, took off the filter and low and behold, two gaskets. Learned that lesson early on and never did that again.

It's kinda like forgetting to put the drain plug back in and watch $60 of oil go down the drain, er...driveway, downhill into the street where a cop happens to live across the street weedeating his yard and laughing and looking like he wanted to call EPA at the same time. Yeah you live, learn and get the T'shirt!@
