Oil pump issue or broken gage?

I have filters an 15-50 oil... will wait for some days to let the anger calm down then do the test..

could an oil pump break just in a snap at 12k miles??

Very doubtful, as mentioned many times already, your problem is most likely the sending unit.

Once you have a new one it will take only minutes to replace it and run the truck to see if it is fixed.
