My '04 is still on its break in oil I'm pretty sure (just clicked over 3000 miles after I bought it) and I was curious what temperature does your oil run at? Right now mine is right under 180 all the time. Also, is 90 psi of oil pressure the norm?

180* sounds good, can be as high as 210 in the summer here in AZ.

90 psi sounds high

I agree with the others. Your truck sounds normal.

But I think that lots of people get too excited over slightly elevated temperatures. While heat is the enemy of performance engines...most of us get too excited about 210-230 readings.

220-225 degree temperatures are very common in most vehicles. There is a down side for our trucks in that when intake temps rise the pcm pulls some timing in pretty big chunks to avoid detonation. But that is good. Unless you happen to be at the track...

Some people start to worry when the summer temps rise and the oil temp elevates...but I think it is pretty safe at the temps many of us see in traffic in the summer. Just my opinion...

Since he is on the break-in oil that should come down a little after his first oil change.

I assume that the initial oil has a little higher viscosity than the recommended. Don't know that for sure...but it would be understandable...anyone know for sure?

I didn't think they used break-in oil anymore? 0-W40 from the factory I thought. As the temp increases the oil becomes alot thinker thus protecting the engine more. To do damage you would realy have to run the engine hard for a long period, like a 24hr LeMans.
