i just bought my 05 rc srt10 about a month ago it has been great i checked the oil in it before i bought it everything looked good as far as oil fill level and color and everything the dealer just told me it had an oil changed. today i was driving it in second gear at about 28 rpm and out of no where it just starts knockin and going crazy like it was gonna bend a rod. so i shut it down and checked the oil level and i had nothin on the stick. so i went and got the recommended oil for it and had to put almost two quarts in it. what the hell makes an engine loss 2 quarts of oil in 1000 miles and less than a month. it doesnt smoke it doesnt leak and doesnt smell like its burning oil man i need some help it is under a small real small like 3 month 3 thousand mile warrenty but what could this problem be

ck the oil cooler lines ;)

Your problem may be the oil cooler lines...the stock ones are going to leak..just a matter of when...they usually only leak under pressure so you dont see the tale-tale signs of oil puddles in the garage....of course it can be something else but the lines evidently leak in all trucks..you will see oil & dirt at the connections if they are leaking......PM STinker for aftermarket that wont leak..

man, thats a lot.....

I would say oil cool lines too, but I would check it every day at that rate of loss (hopefully the dealer just forgot how much these things hold)

yea " oil cooler lines " - but i would have it inspected,.. and looked over if it's under warrenty...

if not give me a call and ill come up adn help u :) by buddy can get it to my speed shop and we'll have a look :-0

I am having trouble reading your posts..LOL.....lines are just a common problem....lot of things can make oil dissapear without seeing smoke.........if you have warranty dont go and chew them out..just state the problem...

My lines were leaking but it wasn't immediately apparent as the oil dripped into the plastic pan behind the bottom of the bumper.
Needless to say, Stinkers oil lines did the job.

Most don't but the factory states that 1 qt per 1000 miles is normal usage.

I would say oil cooler lines too, but don't be too surprised if it uses some oil...you did not buy a Prius...

Damn right it is ........

I have the same issue ...... Will be checking lines out this week.

Never a drop in the driveway, never smokes (except tires now and then) Same loss a quart about 1500 to 1800 miles.

Jim

Check the oil fill cap also, no joke. My o-ring went bad and it ran down the side off the block and sprayed all the under the truck. The dealler replaces it with a green o-ring now not the black one. Good luck.

yup, could be a few different things, check the oil cap, lines and rear main seal, those are your major culprits, other than that, a little oil usuage is not out of the ordinary, it depends alot on how you drive it also, drive it hard, use more, ccasual driving, less

Another thing these engine hold 9-10 quarts, being 2 quarts low isnt going to cause you to loose oil pressure. Did the noise go away after you added the oil?

yea actually the noise went away after i shut it down and turned it back on. and never came back since i have put in the oil.

yo stinker man im gonna have to go ahead and invest in some of those lines of yours so i dont burn down my house are they on ur site

Kinda curious about the bent pushrod and broken spring. And why would they leave that where you could find it.

I would bet the former owner left them there...the only fault of the dealer was not cleaning under the seat.............reminds me of a used truck I bought back in 1982........a few weeks after I bought it my first wife and I get in to go somewhere...as she starts to climb in the passenger side something catches her eye pertruding from under the seat...she picks it up and says what are these?...I look over and she is holding a pair of bikini panties......:ahhhhh: ..I just said "nothing I say will explain that"...:dontknow:
