yes. it didnt drain completely.
To avoid that happening again (being you have a raw water system, no heat exchanger) at the end of the season flush the engine as usuall then flush again with anti freeze.

Might want to pull the intake also SB Chevy's like to crack the block inside the valley just above the lifters, just a thought.

salt water?????

I had a 19ft Donzi with a 350 in it. One time the gasket between the upper and lower exhaust manafold was leaking quite a bit. Dumped salt water back into the motor. Not knowing this the boat sat for a bit............... that repair sucked. All because of a gasket. Ended up putting a new motor back in it. The guy that did it wanted to put a 502 in it. Mom at the time wasnt going for that.

Scoobert,

If money is an object, or you simply don't want to spend much on it...

Try some JB Weld on it.

I did that to an L-82 Corvette engine in a Dixie Super Sport one time to "tide me over"...but the JB Weld repair lasted through a couple years of pulling skiers.

The cooling system on my boat engine didn't run with a lot of pressure, like a car. It pretty much just pumped fresh water through the engine, and out the exhaust pipes all the time.

Of course, welding would be the correct fix.

As someone who spent nearly 4yrs at sea...lots can happen 30-50 miles off shore. Ocean is an unforgiving place and does not treat fools well. You might want to keep land at horizon for a while... Think about your future children and the inheritance they will miss out on...? ;)
