If given that you have a pretty decent driver in a bone stock Ram SRT-10 on an average day what would the expected 1/4 mile time be? I was in Macon at the Silver Dollar and saw everything from 12's (modded) to 15's (with a lot of wheelspin of course). Is mid 13's where these trucks sit? If so whats the biggest hurdle holding them back?

Biggest hurdle is getting rubber to stick on the track. Are you talkin' QC or RC? Where were you at Macon? With us??? Sorry name does not look familiar. I am sure the experts will chime in soon.

Oops forgot the important part....

Yeah I was thinking of the standard cab 6 speed. I was actually racing my buddies tow vehicle (Lightning) and was up in the area to scope out a truck Im buying.

You should have come and said hello. Anyway I will try and give you a guestimate. QC expect high 14's and RC with good shifting 13's. I have been told our trucks are hard to get into 3rd.

I wonder...

Well the viper runs 335's on the back and the trucks run 305's, can viper wheels be fitted to the truck in the effort to get more meat out back with a shorter tire for some decent gear reduction? I thought the nearly stock L truck (cat back and cold air) I was playing with was slow putting down 13.36-13.40 I was sure that the viper trucks were faster than that. I guess its the tranny bridging the gap between the two.

no sir the viper wheels will not fit at all.

and most of the autos in reality with a cat back and cai should run aobut the same time, the rc a lil better with the right driver.

tire choice does suck tho, on the srt, the smallest rim you can fit without modding is a 17 inch eagle rim

Plus, you have to remember the L weighs a lot less. But I'm going to try to stop talking about L's here, before my new friends decide to give me the boot. Honestly, I just try to give a very objective opinion. I like both trucks.

LOL

There is a guy on here (Justin) who has an RC SRT-10 that runs ridiculous times with minimal bolt-ons... something like 12.34 @ 114. For what he has done to it, I am very impressed. He posted some vids too. Of course, he gets .2+ in ET gain from what I call the "driver mod." (he nails the gears well)

The ability to launch and shift well is an art with a vehicle like the RC Srt-10.

We have guys with major mods who've only made their times slower because traction is just so difficult.... I was kind'a conservative with my truck and only made about 600rwhp. But even at that, I've hit 2nd gear and spun the truck into a 180....... Fun, but not consistent with a low E/T.... 60 ft times can easily be 2seconds +...... It's not easy to shift and launch these RC's.....not at all....

Justin's a kickass driver:rock::burnout: He runs better times than I do and my truck is blown :( I wish I could hammer through the gears like he can

Well, as D said above... I would imagine racing a 6-speed vehicle this heavy can be a difficult task to master. Take into account varying road/track conditions, and it can make it even more difficult.

The auto may not be as fun on the street (actually I _know_ its not), but for most drag-purpose vehicles, it is the way to go for consistent times and an ability to more easily plant the tires due to less driveline shock. The other thing is that the more power you make, the harder it is on manual tranny drivelines (from clutches to u-joints to the rear diff). The auto saps some power, but if built right tends to be a little more durable from my experience (which I have none with Dodge, so I could be wrong).

That's what makes the 6-speed guys so impressive when they rip off good times. :congrats:

thanks yall, aber my best time with just a magnaflo exhaust was a 13.19@about 106mph. brad i'm sure with a little more runs on your truck it'll be quicker, our trucks just feel TOTALLY different

Ya I just need more practice.... screw that, I'll just go for more power:D

Congrats on the new ride in your sig line

Weight and profile are also pretty big factors. It takes a lot of brute force to push a heavy brick into thick air. When pared with a Z06 we are giving up a full ton of weight, and pushing probably 100% more air out of the way.

So...many of us opt for brute horsepower. Then we grapple with the traction issue.
