Only in Russia

All the buildings in Russia look good from a distance if you squint. Up close, they are in shambles. It's as if the buildings in a city like Moscow were made to look good in low res video as tv was 50 years ago. It was all a show of propoganda. The results of Communism as can be seen in the buildings are very thought provoking. If you get a chance to visit Poland or Russia it is pretty interesting to see what communism produced. The gap between the haves and have nots is also amazing. You either live in a shack or a castle with very little in between.

Chris, the gap is widening here too...in no way close to what you have related, but the middle class is suffering terribly. We have much more in terms of opportunity and we all hope that we will be able pull out of the difficult economic times many are suffering.

Your insight is helpful, and does offer perspective that many of us don't have. Thanks for your input.
