Operating Temperature??

What is the normal operating temp of our truck with and without a low temp thermostat?? And is there a difference between idling and driving, I never noticed before!!:dontknow:

mine stayed at 220 pretty much all the time in stock configuration. Once I had the tune & thermostat, im at 180 all the time (both oil and coolant)

Well, you can put just a cooler t-stat in there, but that wont program the fan to cycle on at a 'target' temperature; and will only 'allow' the truck to go cooler (when driving down the freeway / etc..).

SO to answer your question, yes, basically if you want it to 'try' to stay under 200 all the time, it needs to be programed in your PCM.

Another alternative is to do the fan mod, which allows you to manually control the fan...I believe stingray did this mod, you might want to PM him for the info.

i have the lwo temp thermostat and stage 2 flash and i still run around 200.
i called dan at dc performance and he said that it wont run any cooler with those 2 parts installed. he said the fan is programmed to cycle so it wont run hot cause of the timing advance. it is programmed to run normal. this is what dan told me on the phone

That is how mine is.On hot days it is around 210.Last night it was 180 oil and water,but it was cool night (62*) and I was driving easy.I am going to install the fans this fall to be ready for next summer.

Well, I drove my truck around all afternoon and it was hovering around 200 in 94 degree heat so I guess it's performing just fine!! Thanx for the inputs guys it was truly helpful, now if you could have just been here to put that thing in for me, it would have been awesome!!!!!!
