Opinions....billet main caps?

Well, another bullsh*t problem with my build. The machine shop was planning on using the same billet main caps that I bought for the first motor.....well the guy machined em for the new motor and he claimed that they were inconsistent after he installed them indicating they had been distressed in the blowup. The guys at the shop are recommending NOT using them at all and sticking with the stock main caps and refunding me back for the Program caps they messed up....ALSO Im sure they are saying this now because its gonna take some time to get them and MORE time to remachine them. Should I take the discount and get my truck back SOON? Or wait for it? Im planning on waiting and doing it with the Billet caps, but just thought id get some input from the fam.....
 
Are the billet caps for visual or functional purpose? I would just get regular caps and use those IMO. Sorry to hear about the delays Blake :(
 
I don't know what this cap is you speak of. But if it is just for looks, then get the truck back faster. If it serves a purpose then wait it out and get it done right.
 
Hehhe.....no billet mains are not just for looks - they get covered by the oil pan boys.

Blake - just my humble opinion, but after the time and effort you've put into the build so far why flake on the $500 mains. Looking at the stocker compared to the billet mains there is no comparison. It shouldn't be that much machine work, just needs to line bored i think.

I used them with my build.
 
HELL NO! dont let them short change you ! Go with the billet mains and tell them to get them yesterday!

They can find them in stock! Tell them to use that thing on the wall they order pizza with!

Get on their ass! and tell them to get off thiers!

enough bullshizt is enough! tell them you are not stupid and cant belive they even suggested such a stupid thing!
 
The mains hold the bearings down around the crank in the block.

Blake, I would have to agree with you and Womster and wait for the new billet mains.

Man those guys suck ass. Sorry you're still having problems. Like the others said, don't let them short change you... go with the billet caps. You've got too much time, money, hatred in this project to not do the thing right.

You end up using Proline to fix your former spare block? If so what did you think of them. I'm considering using them but Womster's experience hasn't been real positive from what I understand.

Yeah, at this point I dont even care about the time frame.......this build has killed my enthusiasm for this truck entirely. They basically said that billet mains are good cheap insurance but they dont consider them a must have. They havent put them in any of the 5 Twin turbo trucks theyve done.....they say John H doesnt use them either.....so thats why i want em :)

You should get what you want Blake. You have waited long enough . Another 6 months for Billet mains should be no sweat :D
 
Cut no corners at this point...time, money and bullshit will get your truck to you right...demand billet mains.

already had 1 set.........Pro gram stocks em. I guess they are having em overnighted....the machinist acts like they are a pain in the ass to do or something....it took like 2 weeks extra cuz his align bore machine broke....more stories

Done deal...thanks for the input guys. Its hard to make good decisions whenu just want your truck back...and the guys are like "it will take alot longer if we have to do the billet mains again...." had me tempted. i just told em to order em..
