I'm looking for a decent assault rifle and hand gun 50cal for the hand gun or if you have a good argument about another weapon that you prefer please give me your thoughts..

Thanks,

What will you be using it for? Got an elephant problem?:elefant::D

lol the assult rifle will be just for fun around the house, live in the mountains. so looking for something that is just a good all round gun. We do have bear, mountain lion's around here so if one starts eating my dog or family Id like to be able to defend my property as well.. so o a 22 would be of no use...

Hand gun 50cal .. well just cause i guess.. Ive shot a few and they are fun to shoot at the range.. or into the mountain side...

If your going defensive against a possible bear or cat I'm not sure your basic .223 will do it. The cat maybe. Bear...I think not. You might consider going bigger. I've been looking at either a Mossberg 930 SPX or a Remington 1100 semi auto 12 ga shotgun. With all the different loads you can get in a shotgun you could find one from bird to snake to bear (maybe(slugs)). As far as the 50 cal, If that's what you have your heart set on then go for it.

price range? i'd go with the Magnum Research BFR
http://www.magnumresearch.com/bfr_specs.aspyou can get it in .500 S&W which from my understanding has a little more kick to it than the .50 AE that the desert eagle shoots. might wanna look at a .460 S&W mag. its higher velocity than the .500 and i think it has more knock down power
on a rifle i'd go AK47, AK74, or SKS mainly cause ammo is dirt cheap

For the Bear,
AR-10 A4 CARBINE 7.62 W FORWARD ASSIST GREEN

Hard Hitting and Rugged, at home on the range or in the field, serious carbine shooters deem the ArmaLite AR10A4 Carbine as the heavy caliber to own. Tactical flexibility combined with the compact length of the 16" barrel and collapsible stock are standard to any A4 carbine model; but add in the advancements that our engineers have made standard on every ArmaLite AR-10, such as improved feeding, extraction and ejection, and there is not another heavy caliber carbine that can compare.

The AR-10A4 Carbine offers the same sighting choices as the AR-10A4 SPR in a handy compact format. Hard hitting and rugged, at home, on the range or in the field. All our AR-10A4 and AR-10(T) rifles feature our clamping gas block, allowing the removable front sight to be rotated to zero. This assures that the rear sight is centered and full left and right windage movement is available when shooting in strong winds. Post-ban model available. Pictured with 20 round Magazine and optional scope.

Also available in AWB(Assault Weapon Ban) configuration.
AWB Model numbers: 10A4CF-2 and 10A4CBF-2.

*The holder of an active FFL must contact ArmaLite to order this product.

I would get the asault rifle in .308 (7.62) NOT .223 (5.56).Better caliber all-around for just about anything, though it has a bit more recoil.

A 50 cal handgun ? As in 50 AE (Action Express for the Desert Eagle) or what ?
I would go for the .460 S&W .
It is way better than the 50 AE and you can use 45 Long Colt and ............
another caliber that I can't recall in addition to the .460

As you can see I am not into "little" calibers :D

Price range - Trying to stay around 2000 total for both guns if thats possible

A good "assault rifle" will probably be $1,200 to $1,500 minimum
A good revolver in a .44 mag will be about $600-$800
Going to the bigger calibers ups the price considerably. The last Desert Eagle I saw was about $1,400 in the .50 AE

Maybe get the new remington AR in .308 (.223 is kinda gay :p :D )
and a Ruger .44 Mag ? Both can be had for about $2,000 if you shop around

Of course,I think you can still get the Chinese "assault rifles" for about $500

you can get a decent AR15 in .308 and a .454 cazull for about that price range....that's what i'd do...

and you don't have to buy a para ordnance...when the taurus raging bull will do you just fine....and it shoots .45 long colts, too....
