I can buy one for $400 including the case, 2 extra mags, etc. Only had about 100 rounds shot through it. Anyone have any negative opinions about this one? I have a Glock 40 but don't like having a 3 year old and pistol with no safety so it stays locked up in the truck. Plus the Glock belongs to the Sheriff's Dept. I want a pistol of my own and an EMT friend of mine wants to sell his Ruger 9. Thanks for the help.

Should prove to be durable and reliable. If you are a current LEO I would check the individual officer price through one of the police distributors first though.

.

Also IMHO, I would make sure the little ones could not have access to any firearm regardless of any safety.

That comes from back when all we used were revolvers and I still had a little one.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Ruger SR9. :) Seems to be a decent price too.... However, I would take a serious look at the Springfield XD... it's almost twice the money, but it's twice the gun IMO.

But, like SuperCar said, get a gun safe. If I can make a suggestion:

The GunVaults are the shit.... They have a easy five button quick-release lock, but also have a key (in case you forget the 5 button sequence ;) ). Hide the key, in the garage or truck or at work, and never need to worry about the kiddies "discovering firearms".

............

I know I know.....

Mine has never had access to my gun but it always runs through my no matter how many times you lock it up.

this is the one that had the recall. make sure that it was taken care of or bought after the problematic ones. personally i would go with the new HKp30 or for a little less money the XDM9, i own that one also. it's very nice

Most Rugers have recalls at one time. ;) Hell, the LCP I was looking at is under recall right now! Once they get them sorted, they are good weapons. I think Ruger just has that "fix it in the field" mentality. :dontknow:

if you want to try out a XD ive got one in .357 sig see how you like it. never been a ruger fan except for the .22's and the vaquero

I don't care much for the rugers either. I think they make a decent revolver, but I wouldn't buy one of their semi's. FWIW, I own two XD's

I owned a gun store from 1984 till I sold it out in 1993...sold thousands of Rugers....only had 1 I had to send back for warranty work....and it turned around in 1 week.............if they are having a lot of recalls now things have sure changed..

Travis
My boss has one and finds it to be inaccurate due to the trigger pull traveling a long distance before firing. Make sure you fire it before buying and maybe have a gunsmith work on the trigger if you are not happy

I have never had a problem with a Ruger, and I have never heard of anyone I know having a problem with a Ruger. But that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Bill.

...... At least they work towards getting them fixed. :dontknow:  I still would have reservations about buying one and (possibly) having to use it right "out-of-the-box". :(
