Our stock converter stall speed?

Don't get me wrong, but won't the tranny handle 500hp just fine..... isn't it 600+ that it starts to not be strong enough? Not to say that there are a few improvements that could have been done from the factory, but overall I think it does a fairly good job. It tows just fine, goes just fine, works just fine as well.

Add a $50 2nd gear band and the tranny is fine....

I just sent mine over to have it built for up coming mods and super charger.. and so today I decided to take a visit at the place and see what they have done or found...

Keep in mind that right now I only have - Exhaust, Intake, which was the first 5500 miles, and then the last 750 miles I added the DC Stage 2 w/ stat.

When they tore it down, they found that several of my clutches were burned and many had heat spots on them. I have not even raced it with the Stage 2 yet... on been around town driving it.

With as bad the clutches were slipping.. its make me wonder that maybe that is why I was getting such high times in 1/4.... maybe my tranny has been slipping since I got it... but did not notice it..

Well..I know Nowwhat got like 25 RWHP more with the built tranny. I don't think mine was slippin cause my last Dyno right before I sent it to Boomer(Same dyno I got my baseline) I dyno 466 RWHP and 505 RWTQ. Boomer has my sheet so if you all want to see it, he would have to post it. That was with oil temp at 200 F.


Also my best Quarter mile mile run is 12.978 at 107.55.

So if our trannies slip that much, imagine someone with my mods putting in a built tranny, they could go mid 12s. Flying Low ran a 12.71 with my mods minus headers and a stock tranny.

Would that be enough for 600rwhp? Or would you still need to do a build on the tranny?
