Truck shuts down on me one block away from work. Looked up the code and it says it has to do with ASD. Checked the relay and fuse. Fuse was blown so i changed it and blew it soon as i turned the key forward.:confused:
i managed to park the truck on a 15min parking spot. There is a mechanic down a block from me so i am gonna have him try to diagnose it. hopefully he dont care having to walk one block with his tool box lol.
Any ideas? im sure it is a short but where!?

Mine did similar years ago. Dodge picked it up and threw another PCM in it bc they said it was fried. It blew soon as they installed it. Underlying problem was pinched injector lines that eventually wore through and shorted it and all 10 injectors.

oh man...why you gotta scare me like that?
Mine cranks over, did yours?

Starter engaged but no ignition. Spin spin spin like out of gas.

yep same here... shooooot, what would happen if i attempt to jump the Fuse? at least to get it back home or to another mechanic

P.S Mechanic has no time to look at it today

It may short more stuff as mine did (injectors) I put 5 fuses in it

damn... alright. Let me see who i can find. Where would be the best place to wrap a tow-strap to?

The hitch. Only problem is you will have to drive backwards. It will steer and break without the engine running but it's going to be a bitch. I was faced with the same dilemma more then once. $65 is cheaper than fucking all kind of shit up.

for real??? what about the lower radiator support?

Seriously, if you're only going A few blocks. Or parking lot to shop. Radiator support is not strong enough. It needs to be the frame.

yea im thinking im gonna take it back home (8 miles) so i might as well just get it towed properly

Thats the right call, it is a 5200lb truck do it right. It needs to be pulled with straps to the frame, just make sure the driver is careful with the front bumper as it can rub if tilted due to the lower front bumper we have.

2 fuses and 2 relays later.... Shes running again!
Ended up replacing the ASD fuse and Relay twice (wierd) but its running fine now! Thanks guys

That doesn't sound like a solid fix - sounds more like the problem temporarily went away. If you have a short then my guess is that replacing the fuse and relays would have energized the circuit long enough for the shorted area to burn through the conductor and create an open circuit somewhere. Is it running fine otherwise? If it were me I would Ohm out every wire listed in the ASD circuit to make sure that I didn't have an open somewhere.

Or----have Dr. Viper do it. :D
