Has anyone painted the stock grill? I was thinkin about painting it flat black on a black QC. What do ya think? Might look mean

I painted mine semi-flat black shorty after I bought it. Always thought the chrome grill was out of place.

i have painted mine...it looked good, but it started chipping and you could see the chips pretty bad...you can buy a black grill like the stock fake chrome one our trucks come with...

You can buy a black stock type grill? Do you know where I can get one?:dontknow:
Thanks

i ened up going with the black honeycomb grill, im real happy with that....if the other grill option does not pan out for ya...

I just painted mine. I removed the assembly from the main grill surround by punching out the pins using a pick and small hammer that hold the two pieces into place. I was able to reuse all the pins to reattach the grill after painting.

I scuffed the grill with a fine scotch bright pad. I then shot both pieces with adhesion promotor waiting 10 minutes between the two coats I put on before adding Professional flat black from Krylon, available at lowes in a tall silver can marked PROFESSIONAL. After two good coats of flat black I used a satin clear coat from Valspar, Lowes brand,to give a protection coat. The grill looks great.

I attempted to take my headlights apart and paint those like I did the grill. Lets just say I did not like the outcome and the damn chrome stuff comes off very easily in the areas where you don't want it to. I junked the project after not being happy with the results. I just ordered a blacked out set from e-bay. I will post pics of the grill tomorrow when I pull the truck out for a wash. Hey for less then $10 bucks i think it turned out great!! Unfotunatly I had to spend $140.00 on a new set of lamps but I'm sure they will look nice. To bad I'm selling the truck soon. :(

Speaking of grills! Is there a grill out there for our trucks that have the diamond shape holes in it?? So if matches the diamond shape holes in the hood and bumper??

Cable, Paint the whole housing silver except the chrome little turn signal thingy, it pops out. That chrome is a mf'er.

I did my whole light and it looks great. I got the Idea from a guy who did his all silver and it looked even better. Takem out of the trash and paint'em there is no tape involved....................easy.

those look like the black housing amber corners ones off ebay. 150 + 50 S&H

That is the best grill I've seen besides justin's complete kit.

those are not completed, i didn't fill the holes where the side markers were. They are going to go to a prof shop to get done right and color matched.

I also want to paint my grill for now..............

I'm not a huge fan of painting them the same color as the truck. Your truck looks good I just think on silver it will make the front look different. I tried to tape off the chrome like you did and had the same result. I tried flat black and had some paint not catch on the light assembly and it peeled off creating all kinds of work for me to fix so I just ordered a new set the way I wanted them doe with the chrome exposed on the parking lamp. I will come back to them one day....Thanks for the pics.
