This may be true, but we also have some of the same failings

We can't see past our petty differences
It's not a good idea because _______ brought it up
We may not have skin color differences, but it's expressed in paint color

You have to put Jimi in charge of the Navy so he can have his boat :D

Ummm, :hmpf:we're not going to find ourselves as a secluded group over this right? You know, seceded somewhere in a mountainous region compound being carefree, popping blue pills, having sex only with the women housed within the confines of the group while being accused of sedition by the government…:embarassed:

Exactly the opposite, the other side will be in the woods.

I was lucky enough to have been included in some of the

highest level meetings, training, planning sessions, dealing with

the issues you raise to be directed against enemy foreign govt's.

I recall looking around the room in one of

these meetings and the thought occured to me," If one of these

guy's ever decided to (paraphrase) ROCK THE BOAT here, how the hell

could you stop him!"

So, I am in agreement with Mr. Obama in that this country needs change,

but the kind of change we need requires first the congealing of

a certain number of individuals who share the same level of courage

and desire for liberty as the men that founded this country to begin with.

Man that's funny as hell!

it's totally the guy's fault according to her.

Mandatory Military Experience

What do you think about mandatory military experience. I did not have the opportunity to serve. I feel it would have been a life changing experience. I wanted to join the National Guard to learn to fly choppers but I have asthma and height requirements prevented me from joining. Here are my thoughts.

1. If you stay in school great, continue down that road. Pursue a career.
2. If after HS you don't go to college. Pick a branch of the military you'd like to serve and get training in.
3. If you drop out of high school, guess what buddy, you just joined the military. If your under age then you will remain in training until your 18 then serve.
4. If you want to join a gang, pick your colors, Army green, Air Force or Navy blue.
5. Think your a super bad azz, you just joined the Marines. How bad are you now?
6. I think 2-4 years of being in the military would change the entire country. Peoples whole mentality would change and I think for the better. I believe it would foster more respect for one another.
7. This would be a good way to build back up a thin military.

What are your thoughts????

How about we write a platform...

1. We will only fight in another country if we are there to win immediately with minimum American casualties. A return to the Eisenhower philosophy of Massive Retaliation. If we fight, the rest of world is going to hate us no matter what we do, so we are going to do it our way and 'get er done!'

2. Move to a National Sales Tax. Eliminate the IRS and our current tax system. In five years (2013) our Federal Budget will be the income from the 2009 National Sales Tax revenue, period.

3. Term limits for all elected positions...lets say 12 years maximum.

4. States will have the right to make their own laws, without pressure from the Federal Government...people can choose which state will be their home.

5. Ten percent of Federal Employees will be eliminated annually, until our Federal payroll is reduced by 40%.

Someone pick up the ball here...

My vision must be going! I actually agree with Roy!!

While it would be good for some, I think there are just too many people who wouldn't accept it, and make life harder for thoes who actually wanted to serve. In order for it to work at all, the entire military would have to go through a major overhaul. Drill sergeants/NCOs aren't even allowed to cuss at soldiers anymore... There would need to be some serious ass woopins going around to straighten some people out, and there are just too many people who would freak out
We Americans today are just too full of ourselves. Not trying to talk shit about myself or anything LOL it's just the truth. Think about how many people would get kicked out or go AWOL. Billions would be wasted on training deserters.
There are some countries that do this. They have a manditory enlistment of a few years, and then ther are in "the reserves" for life just in case they are needed.
I wish it would work here, but I really don't think so.

Dad gum Prof! Your stealing all my thunder. GOOD SHOW!

You also jogged my memory, there are WAY too many govn't

employees sitting on their butt's, just waiting to retire, we even had

a name for them, they were on ROAD duty,(Retired on Active Duty!)

I have a method to eliminate unnecessary positions that is completely

objective, effective, and fair.

I think one year of mandatory military service for all able bodied men and women would be a great idea. There would of course be exemptions for the mentally handicapped, physically handicapped, etc. You could refuse ONLY if you relinquish your US citizenship and the rights that go with it and agree to live here as resident alien/dissenter.

It wouldn't be worth it $$$ wise. It'd have to be a min. 2-4 years depending on the MOS(job) each soldier, marine, or whatever was trained in. My enlistment is for 6 years, because my training was so expensive.

Re-instate the draft into the Army for 2-yrs,Or chose to join one of the other branches for a 4 yr.hitch.

We could slightly amend the concept...maybe it could be mandatory federal service...choose, military, Vista, work in a health care facility, work on infrastructure (roads, dams, parks) become a teachers aide, waste disposal/recycling center...etc.

I unfortunately would have to agree with you. Too radical a change in todays environment. But I thought I'd throw it out there for discussion since we're planning a Government takeover anyhow.:D It sure would be a nice way to curb the gang situations if the DI's could conduct themselves like in the old days (maggot).

My wife and I had dinner down near the town courthouse. While we were sitting there we saw some police officers escorting inmates out of the courthouse in their blaze orange uniforms. They put them in an air conditioned van and took them to an air conditioned jail with color TV etc. So what's so tough about jail. Sounds kinda cushy (although I want no part of it). What happened to the old days when the chain gang was taken out for hard labor. They lived out in the swamps in labor camps without any luxuries at all. My how times have changed. And not for the better. Enough ramblings for tonight.

I think That is a good avenue,But maybe after their active service.Possibly as part of the reserves.

##. Quit cow-tailing to special interests groups that just take up too much money and breath and handicap businesses from being able to operate.

##. Atlas Shrugged mandatory senior year of high school :D.

I think compulsory military service is a fine idea. It would stop this generational welfare crap I see. Oops I didn't say that.

I had posted some time ago about Atlas Shrugged and will allways

remain in awe of Ayn Rands genius. If after reading that novel a persons

mind would have to be devoid of logic or reason if they still had any

positive thoughts toward liberalism/socialism.

Before I retired I met a couple that had moved here from some country

and they were both highly educated and skilled, I think the wife was an

M.D. I asked them why they moved here because it seemed to me they

would be needed and better off where they came from.

The man said because they could not make any money and that

their standard of living was the same as a plumber in the other country.:(
