Paxton intercooler question...

Interesting...I noted that Hilgee has an air to air on the TT that JH built (kind of) and it really seems to be very efficient.

Ok, I had a conversation with one of our supporting vendors that knows about this stuff (I won't mention his name since I didn't ask him if it would be OK) on this topic and as I understood what he said, the air to air cooler would actually be better because it would not have any heat soak issues like the water to air one does. He said they do air to air ones commonly on big time Viper builds...I was thinking of using both, but he didn't think that would be a good idea...

I have been meaning to contribute to this thread, but just haven't had the time to really get into it.

The short answer is the greater the temp deferental, the greater ability of the intercooler to cool the intake charge.

I'm just going to use an Air to Air for this example. Let's say the intake charge out of the compressor is a constant at 320 degrees. Now when it goes through the intercooler at an ambient air temp of 50 degrees, it will be cooled more than if the ambient air temp is 105 degrees.

Make sense?

And before anyone brings it up, the 55 degree difference in intake temp does not equal a 55 degree difference in the intake charge. In other words, the 320 degrees at 50 degrees would not equal 375 degrees in when the temp is 105.
