After reading Boomers post about the thrill and kill he had the other night with his Paxton truck.

Got me thinking what really is it like to drive one of these trucks with a power adder. Just how nasty are they ?

So if anyone wants to elaborate on there point of view of how it feels sitting in a blown viper ram. Please let me hear your stories, comments, views, kill stories. Anything that will make any of us stock guys drool wanting to read more >>>>>
:D

If anyone has regular street videos of a blown ram even better..

I agree with ya. But since i cant afford having it down , its just a tease for us stock guys.

All I can compare it to is the 2001 Viper GTS with bolt on mods I had. The car did a 12.2 or so both at Topeka and Bandimere (time coverted to sea level...not including density, just elevation).

In bone stock form, my previous SRT Ram had some pep to it but when going through the gears I could look around at the scenary and enjoy the ride.

The Paxton version such as what I have now takes me back to the Viper days. And it should...the power to weight (comparing my bolt on Viper dyno to my current dyno which were performed at the same facility) ratio makes it that when I now plow through the gears I have to pay attention to the road. I cant look around because things happen that much faster. Add to that the sweet sound of a modded exhaust note and you find yourself turning off the radio and gunning the gas pedal just so you can hear the supercharger and the exhaust sing to its hearts content.

Once you've reached 100 mph in just a brief moment of time its now time to hear the burbeling deceleration and the echoes across the neighborhood that are sure to unnerve a few folks as you slowly decrease in speed to the speed limit.

I havent had this truck to a drag strip or roadcoarse but I did with my bone stock SRT Ram. Nothing better then a stock 5000+ pound truck approaching and riding the bumper of a Corvette, Cobra, etc and all the driver in front can see is a big intimidating chrome grill in his rearview mirror.

I can only imagine an SRT Ram thats been twin turboed...it makes mine look and perform like a stocker :)

:burnout: It is really hard to explain in words, and I'm not much of a writer like my buddy Boomer. I just love when people come up to me days or even weeks later and say, "Aren't you the guy with that Viper truck?" And they procede to tell me that "Damn it sounds like a F*cking jet flying by!". To me it is worth every penny.....To take someone for a ride and snap their neck, then be able to take them to the ER in under 12 sec is awesome.

hmm, How do I explain....Well if feels like your on a roller coaster and your heart drops...Ive been told when in the Passenger seat its even worse!

As for the sound, after the Paxton, the sound of the blow-off/bypass is incredible, similar to an exhaust manifold coming off and you hear the exhaust exiting into the atmosphere.

As for the mental feeling knowing you have a blown truck makes you get this huge grin on your face as your driving down the road.

When in gear, the Paxton will smoke the tires with/without dropping the clutch. Release the clutch off idle and punch it in any rpm and it will spin it. Same thing in 2nd... One it does grip, it launches, and fast...

sorry, that's about all the explaining I can give, its a "gotta be there to know what I'm talking about" feeling.

If you in the area, feel free to swing by and take it for a quick spin :) I think everyone should know how it feels...incredible

Well when you floor it you better have both hands on the wheel.....you can hear the turbos spool up and that air being forced.....it pulls like the engine wants to pull out of the truck.....it takes all your focus to keep it in a straight line as it wants to slide as the wheels spin.....it's loud in the cab and then when you let off the wastegates open it pops almost seems like a small explosion.....it's a rush.

My hands start to get sweaty and my heart rate increases a bit just before I get in the truck to take it out.

K-80-123 how about some in cab truck videos ?

680 to the wheels is insane 1100 to the wheels is just godly lmao... and yet put that in a RC thats just legend, i would pi#s my pants's

i remember seeing a interview with Jay Leno who had a 1500 horse power 1956 / 50's something ford truck i think it was. It was just jaw dropping .... then again this is a man who put a helicopter motor on a bike lol

im telling you man i am trying to finish my 73 challenger but it would be cool to have turbos on this beast, id have to seel the other toy to do that.maybe on down the road i can swing it.

.............. and this would be Dan Cragin himself (dcperformance inc.) installing one of the first Paxton's in California, (for our Trucks) in my Viper/Truck! (11/24/04)

Freaking drool..... damnit damnit... maaaannnnn I should have just put the 25K that I've spent on making the truck a show truck into performance..... originally I was going to do both, and still will, but stupid IRS bent me over and had its way with me, so it'll be a little longer... now I'm deciding which nut I should pawn off in order to get even a paxton lol

OK let me figure this out.......ship truck to DC from Maui $1100, Paxton and all the goodies $8k ?? Not sure..... ship back to Maui $1100.........thats over $10k. This thread needs to die!!! Wonder if I could fly Dan to Maui for the install? LOL

...Having your truck on forced induction without breaking a piston... priceless.

Ok heres a question if a paxton and all mods put down a average of 650HP to the wheels, what are you putting out at the flywheel ?

And does the higher the Horse power motor dictate less of a loss in HP at the flywheel ? Or is is the same Drive train loss ratio no matter what Horsepower you are running ?

Boomer if your on this post. Is there anyway you can give anyone interested in having you do a install of a paxton and tune. Could you give us a rough estimate of the time and how much money labor would be ? I know you cant say for sure ever truck is different. But just a rough esitmate ? Warm and Fuzzy per say.

I talked to Dan (DC performance) yesterday, and I will be driving my truck down to him in the next couple of weeks:D :burnout: .I bought my Paxton from VPRPWR and had it polished ( it looked like shit.No fault of his.The non-polished have a rough finish.) So its taken a while to get it ready for install. Its gonne run between 2500.00 for basic install, and 4500.00 for the works.Im liquidating some items on Ebay this week to help offset the cost, that way the wife wont miss too much cash from the bank.;) ;) :D :D
