Paxton, whats it like

it is OK I guess....no big deal......:D

Seriously though for those if you thinking paxton...it is a big commitment beyonf the S/C itself......for QCs....you will need a tranny build...$3500.00....for RCs a new clutch....then if you want more than low 600's....meth + air induction mods and some real dyno tuning.....and then if you have 650+ you are going to want to run at the track = slicks.....figure $15000 to really enjoy what the paxton can deliver....

Thankfully I have been forced into a new clutch because of other circumstances. But forced induction is a year and a half away for me. I do not want to mod my GEN I Viper more than it is, so the truck gets the nod.

I just want that ability to push the gas at any speed in 1st and into second and break the rear tires loose...... :rock:

Nowwhat has it right. Like with anything else the price of the basic components is only the beginning.

Now with that said I love the Paxton. My father has an 03 Viper and comparing the truck to that thing wasn't even worth the effort. Now is another story! Puts a grin on my face everytime I nail it. Being able to stomp almost anything else on the street is priceless... especially in a 5000+ lbs truck.

I drove/towed mine to Boomer for install and tuning, then back later for some more goodies. Deffinately take it to someone who can really tune it to get your money out of it. Can't go wrong with Boomer or DC Performance.

Man you took all those words right out my mouth...I hopin that within two years i'll be packin a sc or maybe now that smoke is startin to clear a tuned @dc performance sts turrrrrbo. I cant wait till the day I'm able to get my truck to squat like its takin a shit and launch like its on fire

Boomerized Paxton, Boomer flash, mopar headers, VEC, no cats, magnaflow, and now a suncoast tranny. Now I need slicks and caltracs so I can play at the track! Forgot that I haven't done a sig line yet.

I'm not real thrilled with the VEC so next on the list is a better engine management setup.
 
Yeah, I think im aout to boot the VEC too......it sucks so far....AEM is the way. Ya know what, EVERYTHING BOOMER has told me has been right. I didnt listen to him on some of em and they have been right EVERY time! He told me that the VEC sucked....and it does. It very limited for what it is....they say it isnt but it doesnt work as advertised for me anyways. Dave tries to adjust the AF's and the thing just doesnt respond. If u use the PCM to tune it waaaayyy better. I think the PCM and Vec argue...
 
Yep, he told me there was better out there but at the time I couldn't justify the cost... so my streak of doing everything two or three times continues.

Could you give us a rough estimate of the time and how much money labor would be ? I know you cant say for sure ever truck is different. But just a rough esitmate ? Warm and Fuzzy per say.

at the flywheel you are at least 15% better.
time is about 2 weeks, and labor is about 3500 for the install. if you are bringing a stock truck, you are going to spend around 15k, depending on if you want exhaust etc. other wise $12,000 is good figure. that would get you gauges installed & the complete tune. i would reccomend a clutch package for the RC's and if you are going to drag race a QC a tranny build is in the future. if its going to be a dailey driver a QC tranny will last about a year or more depending on how you drive it!

Did he goa year with the Torque magt off??? I cant believe the bad luck I have! Been thru 2 trannies, (one claimed to be the best tranny in the world), 1 motor, 2 Paxtons, 2 sets of Borla mufflers(broke), and I cant think of the rest but its BAD LUCK!!!I only have 9000 miles on my truck!
 
Awesome thanks Boomer for the heads up. You will be the man i come talk to when im ready for the install. My goal is to do everything possible in mods up to the paxton.

The rearend and tranny , bah care less about that stuff. :) i have a RC , and im not to terrible hard on my truck.
My concearn is the motor and i want it done right with somone who knows there sh*t.

So i probally drive the truck out to you, flyback, keep it aslong as you want. :D

My goal is next summer have it out to you.
