Cats???? Cats?????? I hate cats they piss on everything , but make for good target practice.  :D

Oh, I do have a couple of sets of cats that fit srt-10's ( rc) in the pumphouse:p

Talk to your painter. Also remeber this was Central FL to South FL. North part of the state could be clear of any lovebugs.
Dont freak out quite yet. My hood was painted before last years PCB and I was fine. Bugs included.
When I got there I was getting ready to wash the truck. Everyone was getting ready to go to dinner, so I didnt wash it. Waited until the following day. Everything was fine.

This may be rather crude, but I wonder how Saran Wrap would work? As long as I cut out spots for the radiator, I would think it would work.

Dont worry about it ron, they arent as bad as everyone makes them out to be. You'll be fine, go and have a blast in pcb

Rain X makes some spray on protectant. Spray it on the front of your truck and the love bugs wash off with ease.

Ron, you should be fine. The love bugs come here twice a year. Your paint will be fine as long as you wash the off frequently. I washed mine every afternoon last year. No paint probs! Just dont let them sit on there very long. Thats when the acid starts working. Last year we all spent the morning at the track washing and drying our trucks. good news, I havent seen any here yet. I'm about an hour from the beach and an hour from the track.

I agree with Brandon. As long as you don't let them bake on or sit overnight, you'll be OK. I use to live in Florida and am aware of how the bugs act on cars. Just clean them off as quick as you can and they won't hurt anything. It's not like the acidic blood of Alien or anything like that.

thats not a bad idea.
I was thinking if you need something quick the stick on carpet protector from Lowe's could work in a pinch. I think it's something like $20 a roll.

I appreciate the support Brandon, but you're talking to a man that will stop 4 times on a 3 hour trip to Myrtle Beach to get the bugs off. This has the makings of my own worst nightmare.

Buy a push up bra for the ride down, And take it off when you get there. Thats what happens in pcb anyway :D :D :D

Just wax the front of your truck two to three times be for you go. I lived in Florida all my life. No big deal.

I have been wanting to apply the clear bra to the front of the truck, but I wanted to allow the paint/clear to fully cure. I have some shrink wrap that is probably very similar to the link Dave provided. I may have to take it along.
As was mentioned before.....talk to your painter. Tell him where you're going and your concerns and see what he has to offer. He may just tell you to keep after them (you'd be doing this anyhow) and not to worry about it. Or tell you what product you can use that won't hurt your fresh paint.

Love bugs have calmed down considerably over the last two days... I hardly saw any outside today. You guys should be just fine next week. I have a couple friends that live in/around PCB. I'll ask them what the LB situation is up there. :burnout:

That's it you guys scared the hell out of me, I'm pulling the Smartcar out now. It's the SRT-2 model w/ NOS. lmfao

They're not as bad as everyone says they are... Just put a good coat of wax on all the leading edges of the truck before you leave. They will wash right off with a good car shampoo (Meguiar's Gold Class) and a quality micorfiber shag wash mitt. ;) Rain-x coating on the windshield works wonders too.

.... I wouldn't use a "bug cleaner" on any vehicle I own. It's strips all the wax off the paint almost immediately. Then, when you scrub the bugs off, their little shells and wings scratch the clearcoat. ;) Someone bring a soft-bristle wheel brush with you so people can use it to scrub their radiators.

UPDATE: NO LOVEBUGS IN PCB anymore... They are almost gone. You guys are in good shape! (Thanks to my girl, Mandi from PCB! :congrats: )
