My apologies up front if this should be in the build vs. general section...

I have a vendor that can build a stand alone wire harness for my 2004 Gen 3 engine ($$$). I will need to have the PCM reprogrammed (remove security crap, etc.). I'm looking for recommendations for a vendor to do so as well as general tuning recommendations/gotchas. Currently the engine is on a run stand - but I need to get rid of the security. I don't expect to be able to take the car to a dyno for 12-18mo... so... I am sure another tune will be needed when its ready to roll. The vendor building the harness can do it - but... Suggestions? (I'm in Dallas)

Second - The engine wire harness is a PITA to remove - it would appear that I need to remove the intake to access the clips beneath it as well as the coil pack connectors... True?

Third - since I will have the manifold off, I will just go ahead and send it and the valve covers off for powder coat/etc. I've seen a number of gorgeous  intakes here that I assume is a dip process... Experiences on durability?

Finally - what other wise suggestions can you make while I am elbow deep? (I've read up on thermostat, crank bolt, Oil cooler lines, scavenging tank, throw-out bearing) Engine has 9K miles on it, so I think the stock coils are good to go. I just don't want to deal with stupid/common issues that the experts here have dealt with...

Intended use: 50/50 Street driven & track (autocross).

Thanks for the reply Scott. I'll ring you up and discuss. I need to make a run to Austin anyway - so it'll be an opportune time to drop off my stuff :D
