I recently took out my DC Perf stage 2 pcm and replaced with the factory model. I have noticed a few things will just a little driving so far. First the tone has less treble in it. The high end tinty sound is gone, the sound is more muffled now. Next, the herky jerkyness of a slight pedal (torque neck snaps) of slow speeds ie parking lots is much less. I like this. Of course the engine temp now goes up to 200`, I dont like that. Roads were wet so I couldnt jump on it yet to feel that difference and I do expect it to feel slower. When I installed this mod I felt it really did add some noticeable hp to my rig and was worth the cash.

My question is, with the 170` t stat I have in my engine and with the factory pcm, is this ok to drive long term or not? Any other issues that may come up? I also have mech sims so I dont expect any CEL's to come on. Hopefully!

The T-stat is fine to leave in place. Just opens up sooner. As far as the PCM flash, it turns on the fan early than later (temp). No worries.

Thats funny...I did the same but opposite mod today also. Took out the stocker PCM and installed a Stage II. I left the stock thermostat in though.
Should i get worried?

What happens is your fan will come on all the time. Over time it might wear out the fan motor. If you plan to keep the stage two tune, install the t stat.

I had the dc unit in my truck for a week or two before I intalled the t stat. DC unit turns the fan on at 185`.

Nope.

We have a hydraulic fan powered by our hyd fluid. At least the 05's. I assume the same for 04's and 06's.

You would get more out of your flash by putting a 172 t-stat. Like he said, it will turn on sooner. You will not blow anything up....well maybe you would blow something up, but that is another story. So are chicken wings.

Im getting mine tomorrow, but I have to send it to DC to flash my VIN, cant wait to see what it does with the QC....everything Bone says is true about the t-stat, it will open up @ 172...this is a heat sensitive part, not computer controlled.

LOL:D

Ok so then i guess im gonna need a T-stat! Thaks guys!

Patrick,I noticed the same thing when swapping my tunes.
The DC Performance tune along with the X-Metal TB makes for a REALLY responsive/sensitive throttle. It has more timing advance,I think.

But,with the X-Metal tune,the stock tune,and the B&G tune ,the X-Metal TB wasn't as sensitive.

However, overall,I like the DC Performance tune better .
Also the X-Metal tune has a far more aggressive exhaust note for some reason.

i have another question along the same line...i have a B&G tune (4 years old) have there been "upgrades"? are the tunes any different now then the ones back then?:dontknow:

Can you provide a pix of this fan motor? :p I think the factory forgot to install one in mine

You will get a cel, for coolant temp not reaching a certain temp.

If anyone wants a flashed PCM for an '04 RC lemmie know. I've had one I never installed that's just collecting dust..

I paid $250.00 for it from a member of this forum and I never installed it. Asking $80.00.

Somebody got one super deal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :congrats:

No shit.....congrats to somebody for getting one hellova deal!!

Sancho, I would call DC Perf up and ask them what is in the flash now. I know Chris Jensen can do some custom stuff.....so I was told.

Nelson, imagine that sensitive throttle with 4.88 gears!!!:burnout:

______

I drove my truck to the dealer today, bout a 70 mile round trip. Truck runs fine but definatly not as fast. Pulls way harder with the DC tune. Rpms go up much faster with DC tune. I forgot how hot the truck gets too. When I got home truck temp was about 200`. The damn fenders were hot when I checked under the hood in my garage. Heat soak comes into play with the factory tune.....not so with the DC tune.

Looked at the new Ram, inside is very nice, outside has nice aggresive lines. They had a srt8 challanger........wanted $13k over sticker!!!:argh: :argh: :dontknow: It was black and gorgeous. No test drives allowed! LOL

Well,I sold the TB ,but I have 4.88's sitting in the shop waiting to go in :D
With 4.56's I had to drive really smoothly, but I loved it otherwise,
With 4.88's
