Got a question for a few of the noble guys out there.

Underground racing has been after me to come and work for them for awhile now. At first I have just said no, but latley I have thought seriously about it.

Actually I jsut got off the phone with them and he would like me to drive thier car carrier at least, delivering cars, picking up and so on, this I am considering. As that would go along with what I do now.

My only problem is I hav immense amounts of freedom now, but talking with them I may have it there also.

My mind is twisted! on one side I would like to stay home alot more these days, and on the other I like the freedom.

any suggestions?

My dad drove trucks for many years and I worked for him for a few years. Since that time I have worked as a mechanic, welder, scale technician, and finally as an engineer. Want to guess which job I liked the best. Yep, driving a truck. No boss on your ass, and the only thing I had to worry about was being at location X by a certain time. I got to see the country and I love driving.

So there, that's my 2 cents worth.
 
You could always try it for a while Dude. If it's a PITA, tell them and give them some time to find another driver.

Then again, it might be great!:dontknow:

I sure used to like driving. But I gotta say, it's pretty nice hanging around home too, seeing folks you know, hanging with family. Tough call man, but I would lean towards the hanging around the area thing, especially at your age heheheheheheh.
 
As long as they treat you well and your hours are not crazy, I can't see why not. The chance of meeting interesting characters as well as encoutering new things everyday would make this job worthwhile. Can't comment on the driving conditions, you would have to be the judge of that. Best of luck either way mang :D
 
I think thats the way I'm leaning, just doing one here and there when they need me, then see how it goes, and if it works out , turn wrenches later:D
 
Agree, do a few runs for them and see how it goes. Also depends on how much change it would be to your free time....If its too dramatic then I wouldnt do it. Lowering your stress and enjoying life is worth more than a few more dollars.

Of course getting your truck tuned for free is a nice perk ;)
 
Let me tell you...that's a heck of wife bud....you are lucky...
 
Tony you have to do what makes you happy. I'm sure Joanne would like to have you around the house more also.

Dude.....any job that you don't have to rinse your mouth out afterwards can't be all bad. I have never looked back, if you change what your doing, neither will you as long as the wife buy's into it...... Is there a chicken stand near where the main office is?
 
Alright Tony here is my take on it. I think you need a sit down with underground. Prior to attending the meeting write down all you concerns and questions. Make sure the questions are direct and to the point. Prior to that I would make a list that compares your current job. Well you need 2 lists. One is a list of things that are positives for each job. The second is a list of negatives with each job. Just doing those list might help guide you to the best answer. Things I would want to see on the list are:
Pay
Benifits to include medical/dental
Time at home
Raises in the future
Are Bonuses available (being on time, etc)
Stock options
401K
These are just a few I can think of. Hope this helps guide you a little. Listen to you heart and listen to you wife. You have to make both happy.

Glad I could help. Also you can rank things on your list. Somethings might be negative but they don't bother you too much. Just as some things may be postive but don't really do anything for you. You get the idea.
 
Exactly , glad you thought of this, I am going to write up some things before Joanne gets home andthen go over them with her;) LOLO that way she can correct me!:p
